SUMMARY:

This work was based on the analysis of the management of Alagoas Ladislau Netto (1870-1893) at the National Museum, at the time called the Imperial Museum. In this sense, the theme concerns the mediation of management, information and knowledge at its intersections with the museum space, as well as how it sought to dialogue with Information Science, Cultural History and Museology, in order to situate the botanist Ladislau Netto at the center of his contributions to the institutional organization, a consequence of administrative reforms arising from the regulations of 1876, 1888 and 1892. This culminated in the creation of the scientific journal Archives, in the implementation of competitions and public teaching courses, in the within the scope of the National Museum, as well as sponsoring scientific expeditions in Brazil, with repercussions on the Brazilian Anthropological Exhibition of 1882 and on the Universal and International Exhibition of Paris in 1889. In this way, this work treats the National Museum as an institution focused on production of information and knowledge, by establishing innovative processes, during the last quarter of the II Brazilian Empire, which configured those to the country's scientific-technological, political, social and cultural development. Finally, it seeks to establish a connection between the National Museum and the State of Alagoas, as the place of origin of Ladislau Netto, both bearers of information about this trajectory.
