SUMMARY:
The Internet has enabled access to a diverse set of information that are no longer limited to physical or temporal spaces. However, the information made available on telematic networks can circulate without monitoring, enabling the dissemination of fake news. This practice is directly linked to another phenomenon, post-truth. Despite the far-fetched nomenclatures, they refer to actions carried out for years, what differs, however, is the impact they have caused today due to the breadth that the Internet and technology have provided to society. In this perspective, the process of disinformation and the auditability of information were studied so that we could identify the presence of fake news produced in the 2018 Brazilian presidential election period. Research classified as exploratory and descriptive. Exploratory, as it allowed theoretical deepening of the theme in question, already descriptive as it presented the methodology of fact-checking and, consequently, further analysis. The research cut corresponded to two national agencies that work with the auditing of information: Aos Fatos and Lupa. The methodology of systematic observation of the electronic addresses of the mentioned agencies was used and the data were presented and analyzed considering the qualitative and quantitative approaches.
