SUMMARY:

The cyclical changes that occurred in the 20th century resulted in a new economic, social and technological paradigm, a scenario in which the evolution of information, knowledge and information and communication technologies emerges as potential tools for transformation, emphasizing the importance for the formation of Information Science discipline. In this context, information is an important tool for the generation of knowledge, providing the manager with efficient decision-making in the institutional environment. To this end, it is essential to manage the information that circulates internally, with a view to adopting a model that seeks to approximate the stages of acquisition, treatment, organization, production, distribution and use of the information in the best possible way. In the case of a Federal Public University, managing information is essential for the execution of tasks, actions, research, as well as favoring the construction and execution of plans and projects aimed at improving the finalistic services offered for the benefit of society. In this environment, the strategic planning of the institution stands out, which is materialized in the Institutional Development Plan, which establishes, among other aspects, objectives and goals to be accomplished in a given period. In order to verify whether the predicted goals were, in fact, achieved, it is essential to monitor the actions and objectives in each year during the term of the plan. It is in this scenario that the research develops, aiming to study the strategies that can be used to monitor the Institutional Development Plan of the Federal University of Alagoas. The methodology used is classified as basic research, which consists of the continuity of scientific knowledge, not being concerned with the short-term application of the results obtained. As for the objectives, it is characterized as descriptive and according to the approach of the problem, it is characterized as qualitative. Strategies will be used to observe, interview and consult documents in the environment where the server works. In addition to the theoretical framework, documents such as the Institutional Development Plan, policies and regulations in force will also be used, which also classifies as bibliographic and documentary research. The study aims to provide the construction of strategies based on the information management model built by the author Choo, with a view to organizing the information that facilitates the monitoring of the referred plan, through a compatible system and of easy interpretation of the consolidated information. It is hoped that the study can contribute to better information management at the University, allowing the monitoring and construction of consistent plans and projects, subsidizing managers in efficient decision-making in the performance of their competencies and allowing society to monitor the results and performance regarding compliance with institutional objectives and goals, acting proactively in social control.
