Abstract: The institutional newspaper is a communication tool whose main objective is to bring information to an institution's internal public, disclosing information about the services, events and actions that involve the company. These newspapers can be printed or virtual and some are explored on multiplatforms. This dissertation, whose object of research was the institutional newspaper “Bom Dia Casal” of the Sanitation Company of Alagoas, analyzes this type of newsletter not only as a communication vehicle that serves journalism, but also as an instrument of memory. This type of communication channel involves information, users, institutional journalism and organizational culture. Institutional communication deals with the need for information, culture and journalism To analyze the newspaper over its 34 years, a clipping was made and all newspapers published in December and in some years those published closer to the end of the year were chosen for analysis. The application of Kayser's analysis was possible because the analysis of the newspaper from the point of view of comparative journalism found in Marques de Melo (1972) was used. Regarding the institutional newspaper's involvement with organizational culture and memory, Nassar (2003 and 2012) and Marchiori (2013) supported the research demonstrating how organizations can use institutional newspapers as a way of relating, sharing and building memory. The methodology adopted to carry out the research was quali-quanti and the information was obtained through bibliographic and hemerographic research.
