SUMMARY:

The patient's medical record is a master document for activities and professionals in the context of health institutions. In this way, it works as a database for research and teaching, as long as the ethical and legal aspects of access are respected, in addition, the data that make up the medical record feeds national health systems, producing indicators that support the creation and implementation of public policies for the health area. Thus, it is required that the filling out of the information that constitutes the Patient Record is carried out in a clear, correct and complete manner. This study aims to analyze whether the information recorded in the Electronic Patient Record meets the need for information from professionals who use it in the Child and Adolescent Health Care Unit of the Professor Alberto Antunes University Hospital. To achieve the proposed objective, the information required to fill in the medical record will be identified; evidenced from the perspective of the professionals their difficulties and perceptions regarding the filling or search for information in the document; evaluated the process of filling in the information contained in the medical record and presented the functionalities of the Medical Record Management System. The methodological approach will be of a qualitative nature, the data collection instrument applied to the professionals who use the Electronic Patient Record in the Hospital Unit will be a questionnaire with open and closed questions, the data treatment will be carried out through the analysis of the results presented in the responses to the questionnaires applied. It is expected that this study will contribute to a better attendance on the professionals' information needs, corroborating with efficiency and effectiveness of the work process in the unit.
