SUMMARY:

The conjunctural changes that took place in the 20th century resulted in a new political, social and technological paradigm, a scenario in which the evolution of information management in the field of Information Science, strategic planning and information systems and technologies emerge as potential inputs for transformation in contemporary society, emphasizing their importance for the construction of new studies, collaborating to achieve institutional objectives in organizations, especially in Federal Public Universities. In the case of Universities, managing information helps in the elaboration of strategic planning, as well as it can contribute to the monitoring of strategic objectives and goals, which are essential for the fulfillment of the institutional mission with society. It is in this scenario that the research is developed, aiming to analyze how information management can contribute to the monitoring of the Institutional Development Plan at the Federal University of Alagoas. The methodology used is classified as applied research, since it focuses on the practical and objective reality that is the public university. As for the objectives, it is characterized as descriptive and according to the approach to the problem, it is characterized as qualitative. Interviews through a semi-structured questionnaire and consultation of institutional documents will be used as a data collection strategy, which also classifies the research as documentary and bibliographic. Content analysis will be used as a data analysis method. It is expected that the study can contribute to the management of information at the University, allowing the knowledge generated to enable the monitoring of institutional plans and projects, subsidizing servers and managers in efficient decision-making in the performance of their competencies, providing society monitoring of results, acting proactively in social control.
