SUMMARY:

Sustainable development is a cause for concern and debate on a global level, comprising all spheres, whether public, private, NGOs, societies and citizens, all of whom are required to commit to rethinking their practices in order to contribute to the reduction and consumption of natural resources. In this context are the university libraries that need to innovate in their services and products from the perspective of sustainability, strengthening their role as promoters of sustainable development. The research aims to study the sustainable actions developed by university libraries in the state of Alagoas. The methodology of the research is characterized as descriptive and qualitative, the methodological procedures begin with the bibliographic research on the concepts and theoretical frameworks of sustainability and sustainable development goals (SDGs) recommended by the 2030 Agenda, relating them to Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência a Informação Universidade Federal de Alagoas, Campus A. The research universe will be defined by consulting the e-mec website, an electronic system for monitoring the processes that regulate higher education in Brazil, selecting an intentional sample of two universities, two university centers and two colleges and identifying their respective libraries. Following a complete observation of the links of the libraries investigated, their news, events, and publications of the institutions to which they are linked with the purpose of evidencing corresponding actions and signaling which of the SDGs is closer according to the analysis. It is believed that these steps will refute or confirm the research assumption when considering the incipient practices of innovation and sustainability in university libraries in the state of Alagoas for being a relatively new theme in Brazil
