SUMMARY:

Information occupies an important place in the most diverse social segments and this is clear in public and
private organizations. In the context of health, public organizations have developed, seeking ways to innovate
and improve their services to meet the aspirations of contemporary society. Among information and
communication technologies, health information systems emerge as essential tools to help organizations and
health professionals to effectively and intelligently manage the large amounts of information that are
generated every day. There is a pressing need to make employees aware of the importance of information
management in the organizational environment, in order to promote and improve the use of information in
the actions of the Unified Health System (SUS). In this scenario, the research sought to study the process of
registration, integration and retrieval of information in e-SUS AB and SISAB. To this end, it was necessary to
describe the process of collecting and recording the information that feeds SISAB through e-SUS AB; As well as
verifying, from the perspective of managers and users, the main problems encountered in the registration and
retrieval of information in e-SUS AB; In addition, to identify the factors that interfere in the full integration of
e-SUS-AB and SISAB; In order to contribute to a better understanding of the process of collecting, storing,
retrieving and using information in the health area. As for the methodological procedures, a qualitative
research was carried out, with a descriptive and exploratory approach, consisting of a case study, with the
application of 172 questionnaires with professionals who are part of the family health strategy teams and a 

semi-structured interview with the manager of the health department of the municipality of São Luís do
Quitunde, Alagoas. The results point to a certain fragility in the training process of the teams; professionals,
difficulties in filling out the printed forms, as well as in the use of the electronic system, significant lack of
knowledge of the information storage processes, difficulties in unifying the patient records in the system, high
duplicity rate of patient records, system instabilities and the difficulties and improvements provided by e-SUS
AB, from a management perspective. It was possible to conclude that there is a need to carry out new training
with professionals who work directly with the e-SUS AB strategy, as well as to sensitize professionals and
management about the importance of the quality of health information, to promote improvements in the
registration process. and retrieval of information, thus providing the best decision-making by the arts of
management, as well as subsidizing the elaboration of public health policies for the municipality.
