KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: STRATEGIC USE OF EVENTS AS SOURCES OF INFORMATION

In the knowledge construction approach, the organization recognizes the importance of identifying and promoting the activities that strengthen its organizational capabilities and that enable the generation of organizational knowledge through learning, using it as a competitive advantage and as an allied at the moment of decision making. Then, during the process of managing its information resources, the organization identifies its information sources and uses them as strategic tools for managing organizational information and knowledge. Given the multiplicity of existing information sources, the organizational events emerge as resources that allow the connection between people and organizations, the dissemination and sharing of information, the collective learning and, consequently, the generation of new knowledge. Considering the above, this research has the objective to examine the strategic use of information sources as a means of knowledge generation, from the perspective of the role performed by events. It explains about the concepts that permeate the organizational knowledge management and how the information sources, especially in relation to the events, can be used strategically in the consolidation of an organization focused on learning and capable of managing the organizational knowledge. As methodological foundation, in relation to the nature of the sources, this research is bibliographic, considering that it originates from the analysis of already published materials. About its objectives, it is descriptive-exploratory, because it intends, by gathering information, to offer a more ample vision about an existing subject, and uses a qualitative approach, in which the process and its meanings are presented as the essence of this research. As a result, it is expected to elucidate the function and the relevance of events in the context of Organizational Knowledge Management and to explain about their strategic role as a source of information in the generation of organizational knowledge. As a conclusion to this research, a more comprehensive mapping of events, whether as internal or external sources of information, focusing on a better understanding of their potentialities and according to their specificities and their objectives for the generation of organizational knowledge.
