SUMMARY:

This research aimed to investigate the production of knowledge, based on the Graduate Program in Education of the Education Center of the Federal University of Alagoas - UFAL, in the period 2001-2022, expressed in theses and dissertations, on the pedagogical work in Elementary Schools at Escolas do Campo and the pedagogical theories (non-critical and critical) prioritized by the authors. Followed by the specific objectives: a) Identify the production of knowledge in theses and dissertations using the descriptors: pedagogical work, Basic Education, Elementary Education and Rural Schools; b) Analyze such production using the paradigmatic matrix of Gamboa (2014), focusing on the pedagogical theories (non-critical and critical) present in the productions; c) To present a synthesis with the limits and possibilities of advances in the production of knowledge about pedagogical work in Basic Education, Elementary Education and Rural Schools in the State of Alagoas. The discussions generated are based on authors such as Demerval Saviani (1999; 2005; 2008; 2009; 2020), Roseli Caldart (2002; 2004), Mônica Molina (2010; 2012) and Paulo Freire (1987; 1990; 1996; 2011), in order to confront, later, or subsidize data from this research in its analytical character. For that, a qualitative research methodology was used, demarcated by bibliographical research, using the descriptors: pedagogical work, basic school, elementary school and rural schools, in the surroundings of the Academic Institutional Repository of the Graduate Program in Education from the Education Center of the Federal University of Alagoas – UFAL. The data collection procedure and its analytical phase was supported by Silvio Gamboa's reflexive basis, based on the Paradigmatic Matrix, as an instrument for the theoretical analysis of scientific production. It starts from the assumption that it is important, in addition to carrying out research at the first level, to evaluate privileged spaces for the production of knowledge, such as universities, based on their master's and doctoral programs, for example. Well, these programs give birth to a series of new researches, concepts, debates, where it is necessary to increase the level of criticality of these works. That is, it is necessary to constantly investigate the very production of scientific knowledge. Initially, a total of 654 productions were surveyed, with searches carried out until March 24, 2023. Of these, 560 were dissertations and 94 theses. After applying filters for better analysis and selection of these findings, the total number dropped to only 7 and, later, after applying another filtering, the research, at this moment, is fixed in the analysis of only 3 dissertations.
