KEY WORDS:

PAGES: 86
BIG AREA: Outra
AREA: Multidisciplinar
SUMMARY:

Technology has increasingly transformed the forms and spaces of interaction between people, such as social networks and conversation applications. Through these virtual spaces, a range of information is passed on in a short period of time, through multimodal texts in which images and words communicate and engage people in the replication of contents. Memes, as a digital genre, are widely used in this digital medium as a communicative and information tool with a bias of humor, creativity and some with a lot of criticism. The use of this multimodal genre has gone beyond the digital medium and has had repercussions on teaching practices on different contents in areas of knowledge such as Languages, Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In this context, the present documentary research has the general objective of analyzing the state of the art of research on the use of memes for teaching specific concepts in scientific articles published from 2012 to 2022. As a theoretical reference we will use the Grammar of Visual Design by Kress and Van Leeuwen (2006). This research originated from the following questions: What is the repercussion of using memes to teach specific concepts? Does the multimodal language represented through memes collaborate with the expansion of learning in different areas of knowledge?
