ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE CURRICULUM OF DEGREE COURSES IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES: AN OVERVIEW AND ITS INSERTION IN THE STATE OF ALAGOAS

In the face of worsening socio-environmental crises, Environmental Education is an important strategy to raise awareness of environmental issues, in addition to disseminating knowledge and being able to transform and produce new ways of seeing and acting in the world. Considering the recurrent presence of this theme in the area of Biological Sciences and the relevance of research on curriculum, The objective of the dissertation is to elaborate an overview portraying the theses and dissertations that analyzed Environmental Education in the curricula of the Degree in Biological Sciences and investigate its insertion. Subsequently, the analysis of Environmental Education in the Degree courses in Biological Sciences in the state of Alagoas will be made, through the Pedagogical Projects of the Courses. Thus, as partial results of this research, the panorama of academic productions showed that Environmental Education in the curriculum is treated in the background in training, such as: reduced and mostly optional disciplines, little discussion and activities related to socio-environmental issues and the absence of a critical perspective. In addition, it was found that the interdisciplinary approach is referred to as neglected within the curricular space of the initial training of teachers of Science and Biology.
