  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This dissertation aims to analyze the ecclesiastical administration of the Catholic Church in the province of Alagoas between the years 1830-1889. This will be aided by the documentary contribution of the Public Archive of Alagoas (APA), “The correspondence and reports of the clergy of the Province of Alagoas”, specifically from the years 1830-1889; the Parish Reports, in ecclesiastical documentation, accessible at the Archive of the Metropolitan Curia of Maceió (ACMM) and by copies of periodicals made available online by the Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira of the National Library, in particular correspondence and declarations sent by clerics and public agents to the Diário de Pernambuco. The methodology used will focus on the analysis of the discourse of clerical agents – priests, vicars, bishops – and regular authorities contained in the Terms, Possessions, Circulars and Official Letters of the Bishopric and Vicars of the province, present in the proposed time frame. It is proposed to verify the issues raised from the thematic analysis of the institutions, specifically, adapting them to the study of power relations built between the Catholic Church and the State. It is based on the assumption that the analysis of ecclesiastical sources is indispensable for Brazilian historiography due to the institution's participation in the country's historical formation, as well as the scope of its content, where it is possible to investigate several subjects due to the long space of time they cover.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This research endeavors primarily to explore the utilization of cinematographic language as a pedagogical tool within History classes, with a focus on cultivating historical consciousness. The premise of this study stems from the notion that cinematographic language serves as an effective didactic instrument in History education due to its pragmatic function. This form of communication significantly contributes to comprehending and interpreting historical narratives, intertwining itself within the practical realm of students' lives, thereby functioning as a conduit to historical knowledge. The research methodology commenced with an initial phase of bibliographical inquiry and exploratory investigation. This phase entailed the perusal of various academic works delving into Rüsen's theory and the correlation between cinema and History, particularly from the vantage point of History pedagogy. Hence, pivotal concepts essential for this research were delineated, including historical learning, historical consciousness, historical culture, cinematographic language, and the intersection of Cinema with History. To appraise and comprehend the influence of films in History classes, a Historical Lesson (2023) elucidating the French Revolution was conducted, relying predominantly on cinematographic language as the primary resource. This undertaking embodies an action research framework engaging 7th-grade students from the Intermediate Phase in Maceió, Alagoas. Additionally, an exercise centered on the film "Maria Antonieta" (2007) was administered, comprising both open-ended and multiple-choice inquiries, all contextualized within the purview of film integration in the educational setting. The theoretical underpinning of this research was grounded in the insights articulated by scholars such as Jörn Rüsen (1992; 2000; 2001; 2012), Schmidt (2004; 2012), Ferro (1992), Nóvoa (1995), Souza (2014), Cerri (2010; 2001), Napolitano (2003), Bittencourt (2009), among other esteemed researchers. Through this research, discernible were the manifold possibilities that cinematographic language affords for nurturing historical consciousness among students, coupled with an analysis of their aptitude in comprehending historical epochs. This, in turn, equips them with the capacity to critically assess and contextualize contemporary circumstances in light of historical paradigms.

  • The theme of this work is “Teaching and the dilemma between theory and practice: Aesthetic Experiences in the training of History of the Sertão teachers (2013-2023)”. The objective of this dissertation is to analyze how the teaching training carried out since 2013 at UFAL, Campus do Sertão influences the use of Aesthetic Experiences in History classes. It is observed that over the last few years History Teaching has constantly changed, therefore, the History teacher training course has also undergone changes. Initial training presents a theory that defends the curriculum for History Teaching with interesting proposals and that seems to be concerned with the quality training of both students and Basic Education students. However, in practice, teachers face numerous difficulties in achieving the objectives set out in the curricular proposals. There are many obstacles regarding the initial training of History teachers. We can mention the curricula, which differ between the theory presented and the practice in the classroom; as well as different contexts, as each teacher starts from a different reality and their personal and professional training influences their teaching practice. That said, we used as sources in this research the laws that guide the Teaching of History in the educational context and deal with the objectives and profiles that are expected, among them: LDB, PCN's, BNCC, as well as, PPC (2007; 2018) and the curriculum of the degree course in History at UFAL, Campus do Sertão, we also made use of diaries, interviews and photographs that helped us illustrate the Aesthetic Experiences analyzed. For the interviews, we used Alberti (2008) in the discussion about Oral History. In this context, the methodology used consists of analyzing diaries that were produced by History course students and conducting interviews with five History teachers who graduated from UFAL, Campus do sertão, during the proposed period of the research, and who they experienced the process of Aesthetic Experiences, making a dialogue possible through memories and reflections about their initial training. In this way, we use Bittencourt (1992), Fonseca (2011), Fonseca (2015) as theoretical-methodological assumptions to discuss History Teaching, its trajectories and amplitudes over time, especially with regard to teacher training for the area. In discussions about the curriculum and its power, the following stand out: Arroyo (2013) and Foucault (2007;2022). To think about experience and its place in memory and aesthetics, as well as its expansion, we based ourselves on Larrosa (2014; 2002; 2011), Benjamim (1984) and Hermann (2005). We rely on Rüsen (1992; 2001; 2002;2015; 2022) and Schmidt (2004;2010;2012;2019;2021;2023), for the dialogue on Historical Education and Historical Consciousness in teaching practice. This dissertation highlighted the immense differences that still exist between teaching theory and practice, especially in History Teaching. Through this research, we found that it is necessary to think about History Teaching that helps students build historical knowledge in a critical and meaningful way, in which Aesthetic Experiences can contribute to the personal and educational formation of students, contributing to the building a more egalitarian society.

The ecclesiastical constitution was an order upon which the Catholic Church was
organized. Within its complex body it was constituted by multiple organisms,
represented by structured and hierarchical groups of agents, distributed in urban and
rural areas in the "Alagoas" space. Whose territory, as of 1712, was established as a
legal-administrative circumscription. This place, the Comarca of Alagoas, despite not
having its own diocese, was inserted in the religious system established in Olinda,
headquarters of the Captaincy of Pernambuco. The presence of the clergy in colonial
society was an essential element for our study. Its characters formed a religious
authority linked to the "spiritual" administration in the daily life of the population
through social relations. Therefore, the object of study of this research is the clergy in
the region of Alagoas and the practices of their daily life, reflecting and approaching
their lived experiences, considering the dynamics of the secular clergy behaviors
including the so-called "uncommon practices" in the colonial "Alagoas" daily life.
Furthermore, to understand the insertion of the ecclesiastics in the structure of the
local daily life from the use of the clerical administrative structure proposed by the
Church and the Portuguese Monarchy in the region of Alagoas in the years 1712 to
1808, in order to map their integration in the territory and their mechanisms of
intersection with the social structures of Portuguese America.

  • From the second half of the 20th century, the electric power generation policy in Brazil boosted the construction of large dams in the Northeast during the 1970s. The Luiz Gonzaga Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHLG) located in the municipality of Petrolândia - PE, was carried out by the Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco (CHESF) and resulted in the flooding of the old city by the lake of Itaparica, forcing the transfer of its inhabitants with the speech of progress to the new city of Petrolândia on March 6, 1988. The population of Petroland was relocated by CHESF through the resettlement plan and compensated after several demonstrations and the work stoppage in 1986, which had the support of the Rural Workers Union of the Submédio São Francisco, which brought together the region's unions in the struggle for resettlement and guarantees of basic infrastructure. The theoretical-methodological contribution is based on bibliographical research and interviews, relying on the study of oral history and cultural history, conceptualizing the reflections through the study of memory, valuing the memories and experiences of residents of the city of Petrolândia - PE between 1943 and 1988. Due to the construction of the plant, Petrolândia is one of the ten largest tax collectors in the region and stands out in tourism being known for the submerged church being part of the tourist route islands and lakes of São Francisco in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism / Embratur .

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The historical construction of motherhood in Honduras from 1927-1948 embodies the discourse that motherhood is shaped by control devices that regulate women's lives towards the maternal function. This process is consolidated through discursive practices mediated by social institutions such as the patriarchal family and other subjectivities that maintain the cis-heteropatriarchal regime. It is solidified by devices that exercise control over female bodies and perpetuate motherhood as an institutional norm, including religion, the health system and national security to control bodies. The main sources of analysis for this research include the Revista Celajes of Catholic religious orientation, the Police Magazine, magazines produced by women, the Boletim Sanitária and other newspapers of the time. This study is framed within feminist theory, adopting an intersectional perspective, which problematizes different categories of analysis, such as class, race, sexuality and gender. The methodology used is based on discourse analysis as a tool to understand power relations. The research chronology ranges from 1927, the year in which Mother's Day was established in Honduras, to 1948, the year in which the dictatorship of Tiburcio Carias Andino ended, who ruled the country for 16 years, from 1933 to 1948. During this period , coercive and social control measures were implemented that restricted women's autonomy, influencing their ideas and actions, and subjecting them to the rule of dictatorship.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This research analyzes one of the largest and oldest Pentecostal denominations in Brazil. The Assembly of God has a significant presence throughout the country, including in the state of Pernambuco. Therefore, female participation in church activities and leadership is a discussion that varies according to congregations and regions. Therefore, some specific areas or congregations may have more active female participation, while others may be more traditional in their perspectives. of gender. In Pernambuco, as in other states, it is common for women to play different roles in congregations, such as: participation in worship, whether singing, witnessing or praying; in the Prayer Circle, where they gather to pray, witness, intercede and study the Bible; on missions, both locally and abroad; in teaching, especially when they teach biblical classes, especially for children, teenagers and other groups of women, as well as in preaching, although sensitive in terms of the final preaching in services. In this case, culture and society in Pernambuco, as in other parts of Brazil, influence church dynamics and female participation. It is worth mentioning that churches vary in their practices and theologies, therefore, to obtain a more precise understanding of the role of assembly women in Pernambuco, we seek to orient ourselves from the perspective of Cultural History and representations, as well as the history of women as field of investigation, as well as the use of oral history, this time we dialogued with Michelle Perrot (2007); Roger Chartier (1990); Michel de Certeau (1998); José de Assunção Barros (2020), among others. To this end, we seek to understand the historical processes relating to the construction of Assembly thought; its sociocultural and religious practices in relation to its place of production, with a view to the dissemination of the Assemblies' Doctrine and Uses and Customs through the institution's literary texts, used as a cultural system from the Foucauldian perspective (2004); as well as the ecclesiastical and administrative hierarchy and cultural practices, which, in this case, are also religious practices that are present in the Assembly today. This plurality of approaches allows for a discourse analysis about the experiences of assembly women and their actions within the congregation, taking as a time frame the following years between 2001 and 2022.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This research aims to investigate the political trajectory of Adalgisa Rodrigues Cavalcanti, a woman from Pernambuco who dedicated part of her life to communist politics. In 1934, he began his activism in Socorro Vermelho Internacional, an organization linked to the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB), and was part of the National Liberation Alliance (ANL), participating in the 1935 Uprising, which is why he was arrested for the first time in 1936. He joined officially to the PCB in 1945, for the same party she contested the elections of 1945 and 1947. She was elected as State Deputy in 1947, becoming the first woman to occupy this position in Pernambuco, but she did not complete her term, interrupted due to political disputes experienced during the period. Therefore, this research covers the field of Women's History, dialoguing with Michelle Perrot (2019), Joan Scott (1992), Rachel Soihet (1997) and Maria Izilda Matos (2013); focusing on the role of women in communist political culture, seeking theoretical support from Paula Soares (2021) Rodrigo Motta (2013) and Jorge Ferreira (2002). The documentary observation technique (ARÓSTEGUI, 2006) helped in the selection and organization of the sources used in the construction of this study: interviews, reports, newspapers, memoirs, police documentation and electoral records. Content analysis (BARDIN, 2015) was applied with a qualitative approach in the treatment of sources. Adalgisa R. C.'s political trajectory makes it possible to understand the role of communist women in politics, highlighting privileges, difficulties and consequences.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This paper proposes to analyze the electoral process for the city hall of Maceió in the year of 1996, in which the second round was disputed between the candidates Kátia Born (PSB) and Heloísa Helena (PT). For that, we use the methodology based on analysis of party documents, materials from the respective campaigns, articles extracted from the media outlets that covered that process and oral history techniques, based on interviews with the main characters who played the leading role in the event. We assume that the events that occurred in Alagoas in 1996 are a chained derivation of a series of sociopolitical and economic transformations, which were taking place in Brazil, during the process of redemocratization. Based on that, we make an analysis of the redemocratization that occurred in Brazil, with emphasis on the study of the political openness focusing on points such as the "Lei da Anistia" (Amnesty Law), the multiparty system and the direct elections campaign. We evoke the concept of transitology, giving voice to authors such as Michelle Reis, Daniel Aarão Reis and Americo Oscar Freire. The main objective is to understand how such changes in the objective and subjective plane of the popular imaginary, made possible the arrival to the second round of two female candidates, affiliated to left-wing parties, in the state's capital, traditionally controlled by oligarchies linked to the sugar-alcohol sector and how those events that occurred in 1996, impacted qualitatively, contributing to the expansion of female participation in institutional political spheres, beyond the analysis of the national framework, we also focus on the framework of economic deterioration faced by the state in the 90s during the third government of Divaldo Suruagy, for that, we use contributions from authors such as Leda Maria de Almeida and Wibsson Ribeiro Lopes. In an effort to rescue the biographies and political trajectories of the main protagonists, we used interviews with characters who shared with both political militancy and their own electoral process in 1996.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • It is not new that Pernambuco historiography contributes in a unique way to the production of historical knowledge about Colonial Brazil and Empire Brazil, and enriches the debate about this period of Brazilian slave society. On the other hand, the history of the settlement of the interior of the state was little studied and debated for many years, with few historiographical productions, especially when it comes to the 20th century. In this way, this research aims to highlight the interior of the state. Based on authors such as Nunes Leal, Cristina Donner, Le Goff and Foucault, we seek to analyze the processes of emancipation in dialogue with political history, investigating the constitution of local power in emancipated villages between the years 1962 and 1964, in the so-called southern countryside, specifically those belonging to Garanhuns-PE. The phenomenon of en bloc emancipation that occurred in the state of Pernambuco during the 1960s aroused a desire for analysis and debate about this event, starting from the interior and later contextualizing it with the state situation. However, there is also a national context precisely in 1964 with the end of the democratic regime due to the coup perpetrated by civilians and the military, which adds and incorporates even more elements into these events. The methodology that involves working with oral sources and memories has been essential so far in order to interpret and listen to the voices of characters who participated in or who inherited "memories" about the historical process investigated here. In addition, it also uses documentary analysis, records, minutes, decrees, laws and newspaper reports.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The dissertation addresses the political trajectory of Maninha Xukuru Kariri in the indigenous movement. From this perspective, it seeks to understand gender issues involving their insertion in movements and their contribution to the strengthening of indigenous women in public environments, such as in markedly gender-based organizations. For indigenous women, stereotypical views about what it means to be an indigenous woman still stand out, which privilege characteristics of the past, nullifying or reducing their participation in the formation of the Brazilian State. However, this dissertation seeks to overcome this scenario by understanding Maninha Xukuru Kariri and the originals as active, distancing themselves from the discourse of oppression and domination, reassessing their powers. Therefore, as research sources, clippings from newspapers mostly published by the Indigenous Missionary Council (CIMI) will be analyzed, in addition to the newspapers Gazeta de Alagoas, Diário de Pernambuco, Folha São Paulo and Jornal Sem Terra. Furthermore, we will use Oral History as a research methodology, when conducting interviews with indigenous and indigenous leaders from the region of the State of Sergipe and Alagoas. The first chapter consisted of presenting the territorial and family history of Maninha Xukuru Kariri, the beginning of the East Northeast Commission and the land repossessions in which Maninha contributed and led. The second chapter consists of addressing the institutionalization of the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of the Northeast, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo (Apoinme), the findings of the decree of 1775/96, 500 years march and the death of Maninha Xukuru Kariri. Finally, the third and final chapter discusses gender issues involving indigenous women and the particularities of the life and political trajectory of the Alagoas leadership.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This research emerges from a perennially colonizing framework and analytically rewrites it through the actions and thoughts of indigenous political and epistemic subjects. It is through individual itineraries that I undo hegemonic narratives, not only writing about indigenous women in history, but, jointly, pursuing their inscriptions. Bearing in mind that the indigenous-city relationship is a topic little explored in historiographical domains – where remnants of assimilationist, integrationist and aculturalist “theories” can be observed, creating stereotypical frames that deny indigenous existence in the urbis –, I focus on the city experiences of three indigenous people women living on the outskirts of Garanhuns – PE, Kûnã Kambiwá, Ana Clara Xukuru do Ororubá and Ana Beatriz Pankará. In this way, in addition to subverting hegemonic propositions, I intend to analyze, counter-hegemonically, the sociopolitical dynamics established by the city-making of indigenous women. It is about understanding the resistance strategies that transform “Suíça Pernambucana” into a “village”. To this end, I establish theoretical dialogues with the fields of New Indigenous History (Almeida, [2003] 2013; Cunha, 1992; Monteiro, [1994] 2022) and the History of Women and gender relations (Perrot, 2005; Scott, 1995 ; Sampaio, 2021), in addition to aspects of Abya Yala's critical feminist epistemologies (Aimará Paredes, 2013; Lugones, 2020; Segato, 2021). Regarding methodological aspects, I sought support in the interface between evidentiary-based microhistory (Ginzburg, 1989; Revel, 1998), Oral History (Alberti, [2013] 2021; Meihy, 2005) and critical epistemologies arising from intellectual production of indigenous women (Maori Smith, [1999] 2018; Pankararu Ramos, 2019), aiming to decolonize research instruments. The perspective of indigenous protagonism, developed by the New Indigenous History, as well as the critique of gender colonialities, originating from Abya Yala's feminisms, were fundamental to the analysis, as they allowed us to understand the movement through which indigenous women play a leading role in their stories; in cities, they not only inhabit, but also fill it with meanings. The sources consulted, although fragmented, are abundant, in the documentary scope there are academic productions, interviews, journalistic texts, images, statistical data, etc.

  • This work presents an analysis of women's periodicals in the city of Maceió-AL, whose appearance in this capital dates back to the end of the 1860s. Among these sources in printed newspaper format, greater attention was paid to the three periodicals that highlight the political action of women (Revista Alagoana, 1887; O Feminista, 1902; O Rosal, 1903), responsible for promoting “feminist consciousness” in the city (Gerda Lerner, 2022). In Alagoas, the systematic erasure of memories related to women's actions is a reality shared with other states in the country, however, regarding the recovery of their stories, little has been done here (Izabel Brandão; Ivia Alves, 2002). Facing the political invisibility that was bequeathed to them and the few bibliographical references on the subject, this research historicizes female and feminist journalism through the use of feminist criticism and the analytical-interpretive categories of sex, class, race and gender (Lélia Gonzalez, 2022; Kimberlé Crenshaw, 2020; Cecília Sardenberg, 2007; Donna Haraway, 1995; Angela Davis, 2016), as well as seeking to capture the “silences” that constitute and reveal the materiality of power over the bodies of subjects in Alagoas (Eni Orlandi, 2007; Michel Foucault, 1984). With this in mind, it was interesting to map the main demands made by these women and the assessment they made of their own social condition, permeated by discourses that signal capitalist Modernity, the feminization of culture and the transformation of rural space into an urban environment (Yuderkys Minõso, 2020; Durval Albuquerque Jr., 2013; Arrisete Costa, 2015). Since the last decades of the last century, there has been a growing publication of research in Brazil that focuses on women's history, which reveals the attempt to rescue their memories, but also the political use of the past to contest gender inequalities and their consequences. precarious intertwining of female identities in the present time (Margareth Rago, 1995; Rachel Soihet; Joana Maria Pedro, 2007).

  • Resumen Espectáculo

  • This present work aims to discuss the strengthening and consolidation of an extreme right political field in Brazil during the period from 2014 to 2023. We argue that the spaces for debate opened by social media in the 2010s and the intensification of political discourse triggered by the June 2013 protests enabled the spread of right-wing ideas and political practices in the country. This occurred due to the declining popularity of the Workers' Party government and corruption scandals involving the government's top echelon. We will use the conceptual framework provided by the category of political culture to understand the phenomenon and construct a narrative through content analysis of journalistic sources covering political news in the country during the studied period. Additionally, digital sources related to the activity on social media profiles of relevant groups and individuals in the political debate of the extreme right in Brazil, with a particular focus on the specificity of the capital city of Alagoas, will be utilized.

  • The present work aims to investigate and contextualize the business-military coup of 1964 in Alagoas, starting from the relationship of Luiz Cavalcante's government (1961 - 1965) with business sectors - more precisely the Instituto de Pesquisa e Estudos Sociais (IPES) and the Instituto Brasileiro de Ação Democrática (IBAD). From the analysis of the official state media, the government newspaper Diário Oficial do Estado de Alagoas, we intend to understand how conservative and liberal social and political movements inserted themselves in the state to act in the construction of the 1964 coup. The research was carried out from the beginning of governor Luiz Cavalcante's term (January 31, 1961) to the commemoration of one year of the coup (April 1, 1965). We also aim to bring to light the relationship between the Alagoas government and agencies of the United States of America, in the context of the military corporate coup of 1964.

  • Our work seeks to investigate the literary representation that falls on the figure of the pimp witch. In order to do so, we will start from the analysis of the Pursuer Celestina, a character in a work that could be considered a best seller of the 15th century, written by the Spanish law student Fernando de Rojas in 1499. Our study will focus on characterizing the profile of the Purveyor Celestinesca and the repercussion that the character gained before his audience, which seems to have driven the creation of other pandering characters in 16th century Portugal in works by authors such as Gil Vicente and Jorge Ferreira de Vasconcelos. In this way, our intention is still to understand the process of ruptures and permanence of the Celestinesca pimp's profile in the passage from the medieval to the modern period. The character Celestina is understood here as an object of transition between these eras, since, although the figure of the pimp has been present in literature since Antiquity, it is in the modern period that she is definitively characterized as an urban sorceress. Finally, the analytical construction of this work is based on Roger Chartier's concept of representation, and inserted in the studies of cultural history, both relevant to the identification of the construction of a social reality, in this case: classifying, dividing and delimiting to understand the world social system, in this case, from the sixteenth century in Spain and Portugal.

The state of Alagoas has a tradition of music bands dating back to the 19th century. This dissertation studies the Music Band of the Military Police of Alagoas with the objective of showing that, by joining the Band, the musicians who mostly migrated from the interior of the state of Alagoas to the capital Maceió, had the opportunity to rise socially. We justify this research by the need to know the factors that contributed for the Music Band of the Military Police of Alagoas to shelter, in its effective body, a large percentage of musicians from the interior of the state of Alagoas. At first, it addresses the history of this association, and then talks about its consolidation, through musical and political events within a time frame that goes from 1963 to 1965. We consulted several sources such as iconographic documents, interviews, administrative legislation and official records. In a second moment, it investigates the migratory movement of the musician within the state of Alagoas and his entry into the Music Band of the Military Police of Alagoas, through the biographical survey of three former components, taking into account the reasons why they decided to migrate to the capital of Alagoas and the social and political context at the time of their migrations. While the Band established itself in the music scene, it contributed, through the action of its members, to the cultural dissemination in the state, such as the formation of new associations and education, which resulted in relevant social action for society. Finally, it will investigate the celebrations of the Sesquicentennial of Independence in 1972 in Alagoas. How was its organization and the participation of the Music Band, in what was the apex moment for Civil-Military Dictatorship in Brazil.

  • This work aims to study the education of the children of captive women called by “ingênups”, naïve, by virtue of Law 2.040 of September 28, 1871, the Law of the Free Womb. The research investigates the educational practices aimed at the children of slaves, as well as the struggles and resistance to the tensions that were operating in the context of the nineteenth century, where black agents were vehemently appointed as uncivilized beings, devoid of souls and conducive to vices and crimes.  In this interim, it was sought to evidence that even in a slave society the educational and literacy practices of the black people in non-official environments was evident, thus demystifying ideas that Africans and their descendants were bearers of such evils due to the lack of education and literacy.  . In this sense, we sought during the research process to understand how the children of the captives accessed the school environment and what they were to the instructions offered to the population of naïve.  While we analyzed the school, we also tried to understand the legal debates that revolved around the education of this social segment. Thus, we can see that it was the promulgation of the Free Womb Law that allowed the children of the captives the right to access the school.  In this sense, dialogues began in the provincial assemblies about the type and educational model that would be intended for these children. To achieve these goals, many paths were taken trying to understand how they went to educational practices and the reasons that led the government to worry about the education of these children.  From this perspective, we can observe that the project of modernity thought for Brazil did not include the black population, because they were seen at that time as people who did not carry with them the minimum civilities necessary for a life in society within the standards of social valorization. For the naïve to be introduced into this pattern of society it would be necessary to learn moral, religious and social values based on European standards and it was from this idea that schooling presented itself as a means capable of solving such problems by framing the naïve and the poor population to the project of a nation thought for Brazil.

  • Adventist education becomes evangelism's potential starting in 1872, with the founding of the first college in Battle Creek, Michigan. Taken as a source for the expansion of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA), it received attention, investment and took root in other territories besides the United States of America (USA). In Brazil, the first school appeared on June 1, 1896, in Curitiba, Paraná. Since then, it has tried to consolidate itself by expanding its tentacles throughout the different Brazilian regions. In the scope of this research, the year 1972 is representative because of numerous celebrations, among them: the fiftieth anniversary of the Week of Modern Art, the celebrations about the sesquicentennial of the Independence of Brazil associated with the strengthening of the civil-military dictatorship, the patriotic and national civic, in particular, the centenary of Adventist education. While the year 1978 is marked by the commemorations of Adventist World Education by deliberation of the Adventist General Conference and the Adventist Educational Teaching Network. In this period of time, Revista Adventista, a periodical created in January 1906, is characterized as an important instrument of communication and of evangelical, educational and political action for the insertion, expansion and consolidation of (SDA). Thus, it is essential to understand how the Institution put into action the project of evangelization, education and politics in the years in which the civil-military coalition was in charge of the nation, particularly between the years 1972 to 1978. Therefore, the The dissertation tries to analyze, guided by the commemorations of the centenary of Adventist education and the celebrations of the world year of education, how, through the Adventist Magazine, the Church expanded evangelization, participated in civic, religious and educational celebrations and took a political position in relation to the order policy imposed in that historical present.

In 1989, a new pastoral division was created and made modifications in the realization of two celebrations and in a catholic religious experience, with the reorganization of the festival after the formation of the parishes of Piranhas and Olho D'água do Casado. The general objective of the research is the historical understanding of two celebrations as a framework for collective memory, observing the senses and practices evoked, in order to reflect on the social and cultural experiences from this festival. We will seek to problematize the memories and identities that are established in the spatial plane, generated in the participation in the festivities, in order to understand the formation of the local historical identity, the devotions, social and cultural practices in the society of El Mira, a reflection on the idea of belonging to the communities as celebrations. In light of two theoretical references such as Maurice Halbwachs (collective memories), Joel Candau (memory as a generator of identity), as well as, not in dialogue with the sources, in the understanding of the memories that experience these moments of festivities and their expressions in the social field. • The present work deals with one of the greatest emblems of the State of Alagoas: the
merriment Guerreiro Alagoano. The figure in the church hat with multicolored ribbons adorns the
state in several places, especially in the capital, Maceió. From the airport to the coast, from downtown to
periphery, in all regions of the city, there will be a painting, a sculpture, a handicraft, a
portrait, an urban intervention that will display the hat, a symbol of merriment, of a
cultural manifestation, of an identity, of a state. How the frevo umbrella stops
Pernambuco and Farol da Barra to Bahia, Guerreiro's hat affirms, without saying a word
word, that you are in Alagoas territory. The hat is a sovereign icon of aesthetic beauty
unique and original, easily appropriated by society, by rulers and artists. But the
hat is a part of a much larger whole: a merriment, a cultural manifestation that
emerged and gained its contours in Alagoas, which involved dreams and dedication of generations of
Alagoas, which was built, renovated, appropriated and even usurped throughout its almost
100 years of existence. The hat belongs to the Guerreiro, not The Guerreiro. And yet he is
much more present alone than with the whole of which it is a part, as if it could exist
dissociated from the demonstration. The researcher – I learned – is first and foremost a questioner. So
the question: why does this happen?

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The research is concerned with the analysis of narratives that produce power relations and permeate the experience between men and women, as well as the sociocultural interpretations of the guidelines contained in Law 11.340/06 in the city of Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil. Therefore, it aims to analyze the inferences that the provisions of the legislation - surveillance, punishment, prevention, and eradication - make regarding violence against women. By examining the narratives that shape the most basic experiences among actors - women and men - one can understand the subordinate relationships in which women are immersed and, consequently, how spaces conducive to violence emerge. In this regard, the research includes the analysis of articles published in the newspaper Gazeta de Alagoas (GA) between 2007 and 2015, statistical data from the Civil Police of Alagoas, data from the State Secretariat for Public Security and Defense of Alagoas, and the national research on violence against women - Mapa da Violência. Consequently, it was necessary to explore the parallel trajectory of public policies and legislation achieved through political representation in defense of women's rights, as voiced by the feminist movement. By examining the case of Maceió, Alagoas, through the lines of the newspaper and other aforementioned sources, while considering local customs, one can understand the narratives that endorse the current scenario that divides the population and, consequently, permeates women's lived experiences, subjecting them to spaces of vulnerability despite the promulgation of the Maria da Penha Law. In accordance with the provisions of the law, this research aims to identify the strategies for prevention and eradication outlined in its articles and investigate which of these strategies have been adopted in the city of Maceió. Furthermore, it aims to examine the access of the most affected women - women of color - to public policies and protective mechanisms provided by Law 11.340/06. In this regard, the effectiveness of the strategies is directly linked to an understanding of who these women are and the spaces in which they are victimized. Finally, this research delves into cases of violence stemming from patriarchy and symbolic violence, the advancements in policies and legislation that directly and indirectly contributed to the creation of the Maria da Penha Law, and the reach of prevention and planning measures to eradicate violence against women

  • The present research deals with the theme of precariousness of teaching work. It historicizes educational policy, which emerged in a context of changes implemented in neoliberal-based education from the perspective of labor historiography. Its focus is on the Alagoas' experience, since the state education system has been dealing for over twenty years with a regime of temporary hiring that leads to high working hours and unstable salaries for many teachers who are dubbed as monitors. The time frame is from 1996 to 2021 and the priority subjects of the research are the teachers under temporary contracts who work in schools of the regular education system in Alagoas, seeking to understand this universe of roles that the teachers who integrate the basic curriculum of Alagoas education play. As a central problem of the research we have the following question: how does the configuration of the precariousness of teaching work affect the political-pedagogical practice of teachers/monitors in public schools in the Alagoas State Education system? The bibliographic body dialogues, among others, with the studies of Antunes (2009; 2017) on sociology of work, new morphology of work, work and centrality, working class; Lessa (2011), when discussing Capital and the state, social welfare and work; Mészáros (2002; 2008), structural crisis of capital, education and capital; Tardif (2003; 2014) and his approach to teaching knowledge and teaching work. The research has as primary sources official written documents such as the notices of selection of hired teachers as well as laws governing these contracts. The Constitution of 1988, the Law of Lines of Direction and Bases of the Education of 1996, the Statute of the Magisterium and the Unified Legal Regime of Alagoas, served to carry out an analysis between the devices placed in the notices for teachers and what the current legislation says, thus realizing the possible absence of guarantee of rights for teachers under contract. The research is relevant to the education of our state, as it contributes to the unveiling of how the situation of temporary contracts and their possibilities in the performance of teachers who make up the staff of educators in the state system, leading us to reflect on the working conditions to which they are subjected over the years.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This dissertation has as its theme the post-abolition in the city of Maceió/AL, with a time frame inserted in the last decade of the nineteenth century and in the first decade of the twentieth, justified by the sanction, in 1890, of the Penal Code, which determined as a crime the loitering and capoeira, being one of the main instruments responsible for the difficulty of the access of the former captives to a full citizenship. Thus, the main objective is to identify and analyze the experiences and life trajectories of black men and women who inhabited Maceió in the immediate post-abolition period, specifically, between the decades of 1890 and 1910, understanding how the political-legal instruments acted for this transformation. The problem that the dissertation raises is that the materiality of the aforementioned legislation, in the decades after abolition, outlined the path by which the former enslaved migrated to a condition of “second-class citizens”. However, this context did not prevent the elaboration of individual and collective strategies aimed at breaking with that condition of subordination. We start, then, from the assumption that the study of such strategic resources creates the necessary tools to help us understand the position that black men and women occupy, even today, in Brazilian society. Therefore, we adopted as a theoretical-methodological basis the literature review, based on Social History, with reference to authors such as Flávio Gomes and Olívia Cunha (2007), Wlamyra Albuquerque (2009), Flávio dos Santos Gomes and Petrônio Domingues (2013), Clóvis Moura (2008), among others, and qualitative analysis of the legislation applicable to the theme and of historical sources such as newspapers,  like Gutenberg and Orbe, photographs and letters, obtained mainly from the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Alagoas (Historical and Geographical Institute of Alagoas) and the Arquivo Público de Alagoas (Public Archive of Alagoas). Thus, we initially approached the penal code of 1890, the constitution of 1891 and the municipal laws of Maceió, as mechanisms of limitation of full citizenship to the black population. In the second chapter, we contemplate documents that referred to the work in the countryside, related to immigration, and in the urban area, related to the dynamics of economic relations, urban space, exclusion of access to citizenship for those egressed from slavery and the mechanisms of reaction to break with the condition of subalternity, which is even encouraged by laws in force. Finally, in the third chapter, we go through the paths of resistance of the black population in the capital of Alagoas, understanding the role of the press in the formation of the local imaginary, we reflect on the creation of spaces such as the Asilo de Mendicidade (Asylum of Mendicity) and the schools of craftsmen, as well as we seek to understand the determining factor for the Quebra de Xangô (Shangô Break) in 1912. We conclude that, although society in the post-abolition did not ensure the guarantee of legal equality to the former enslaved, but, on the contrary, criminalizes their cultural expressions and beliefs, the black population has resisted. Blacks developed, even if precariously, before the limitations imposed by legal mechanisms founded on prejudiced precepts, in which the social position of individuals was determined by the color of their skin.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The Kalankó indigenous people survive in the rural area of the municipality of Água Branca, about 300 km from the capital of Alagoas, Maceió, and are one of the resistant ethnic groups in the region since their ancestors, coming from the hinterland of Pernambuco, settled in the territory today. corresponding to the villages of Januária, Gregório and Lajeiro do Couro. In this way, we analyze the different characteristics of the relationships between indigenous people and the surrounding society, made up of non-indigenous people and official bodies, based on documentary records associated with certain images and narratives. The Kalankó protagonism was emphasized according to the interdisciplinary theoretical perspective of the fields of History, Anthropology, Sociology and Geography, allowing interpretations sensitive to indigenous interests and everyday details to mobilizations and community scopes. We base the methodological framework on the micro-historical analysis of Ginzburg (1989), in relation to the interpretation of the evidence specific to the trajectory of individuals, and on the exercise of Oral History, defended by Alberti (2004) and based on the complex craft of recording, record of details of the interview environment, transcription and study of derived material. Theoretically, we approach different concepts according to the authors Amorim (2017), Samain (2012), Chartier (2002), Certeau (1998), Peixoto (2018), Herbetta (2011), Silva (2017) and other scholars whose writings served the investigation literature about the Kalankó indigenous people and the theoretical analysis linked to the paradigms of the New Cultural History, interested in generalized subjects in the historiography considered official in the past. Therefore, we discuss images and narratives, derived from interviews, photographs, journalistic records, official documents and other evidence about the Kalankó indigenous people in the transition between the 20th and 21st centuries, comprising particularities, contradictions and protagonisms.

  • Through a study of the history of businesswomen in Delmiro Gouveia - Alagoas, from 1968 to 2022, we gain insight into the challenges, possibilities, and limitations of female entrepreneurship in the Alto Sertão of the São Francisco River. This field is marked by gaps, hiatuses, and deserts, which highlight the importance of this research. The study conducted six interviews using oral history methodology, with women entrepreneurs from various economic activities in Delmiro Gouveia - including flooring and wall coverings, trim, food, parties, and decorations - and a seventh interview with the president of the CDL. The research draws on oral sources, field notes, statistical data available on institutional websites, and relevant literature to explore a field approach to these businesswomen. The study seeks to engage in a dialogue through the lens of Social History, History of the Present Time (HTP), and the study of memories. Additionally, the analysis of this context examines social practices, memories, power relations, identity, and ambivalences related to the businesswomen involved in the research.

  • The present dissertation aims to analyze the Irmandade do Senhor Bom Jesus dos Martyrios in the city of Alagoas between the years 1840 and 1900. among the main sources, we can highlight the commitment of the brotherhood of the Martyrios and the brotherhood of the Rosary of the city of Alagoas (owner of the temple where the association of the Martyrios operated); the brother's entry book, containing the general data of the associates; and clippings from newspapers circulating in Alagoas in the period. It is intended to analyze the brotherhood from the perspective of gender, class and politics, in order to trace the general profile of the studied group. As a methodology, critical and comparative analysis of texts and demographic studies are mainly used from the perspective of Ginzburg's evidential paradigm. The research will contribute to the advancement of the understanding of religious brotherhoods in Alagoas from the historiographical point of view, since there are still few researches developed with the theme worked here.

  • With the development of the Hip Hop movement, relationships and perceptions about this cultural manifestation began to occupy other places, such as the University. With the swarm of ideas, analyzes and discourses in various areas of the human sciences, the field of History was not willing to analyze and contrast with other issues and historical facts of Brazilian formation, especially with regard to Hip Hop and its relationship with the Black community, as it has become an important non-formal political and educational tool. What is expected with the idealization and realization of this research is that new discussions and perceptions about the Brazilian social formation can be put forward from the decolonizing character of Hip Hop and how it influenced and proposed new ways of telling the history of the Black population, always starting from racial, social and class problematizations.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The present research proposes to analyze how, in the region of Alagoas, between the
years of 1870 and 1889, the confrontation between Freemasonry and the Church took place,
focusing on cases of intolerance disseminated or promoted by the local press. The core of this
debate is located within the Alagoas intellectual elite, seeking to understand: (1) how the
confrontations between the two institutions took place in the province of Alagoas; (2) which
personalities of the time were behind the joint press attacks; and, (3) what were the impacts of
these confrontations on Alagoas society in the period. As main sources, periodicals in
circulation in the province of Alagoas in the period were selected, especially Labarum –
Órgão da Maçonaria, pastoral instructions and books of personalities of the time linked to the
conflict. Some techniques are used: the analysis of discourse, where it is understood as
influenced by external factors, being part of a historical process that endows it with legitimacy
    for certain groups or individuals, based on the Foucauldian definition (FOUCAULT, 1996) ;
also the definition of Certeau for analysis of sources (CERTEAU, 2017), for whom all
production is related to a time and place, enabling the understanding of institutions and other
factors in the surroundings. The research tends to contribute to the field of History of Alagoas,
within the scope of conflicts and power relations in the province in the imperial period,
specifically with regard to the History of Alagoas Freemasonry and its role in the
transformations that occurred, a topic still little addressed in the literature state history.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • In 1989, Brazil was promoting the first direct post-civil-military dictatorship
election and, in this context, Fernando Collor de Mello, who was governor of
Alagoas, emerged. In the year of the election, Collor reconciled his pre-candidacy
and national ascension with the management in the State of Alagoas and in this
process the crises in the economy through Banco Produban were clear, which was
experiencing the process of liquidation or reopening causing disruption in the
economic/banking system of Alagoas. In parallel with the problems of Produban,
Alagoas was also experiencing crises in the civil service, specifically the state
servant. Collor’s management delayed the salaries of employees, in addition to
creating a package of measures causing mass layoffs of public servants, with the

justification of moralizing the public service. Fernando Collor increasingly
invested in the presidential campaign through the media. In the same year, the
politician helped in the formation of the PRN – Party of National Reconstruction,
whose acronym was part of the electoral process with Collor as its representative.
Studies on Fernando Collor are being made based on bibliographies on the subject

  • The main objective of the research is to investigate how black men and women subjected to slavery in the city of Recife, between 1825 and 1835, experienced their histories through clothing/clothes/clothing and adornments, in order to understand how these worked as social markers and elements. escape strategies. Furthermore, it is also a way of understanding how subjects subjected to slavery (re)constructed these practices in a new context and constructed their identities through opposition to other individuals. For this, the research uses travellers' reports, advertisements from the Escravos Fugidos e Fugidas de Escravos section of the Diário de Pernambuco newspaper as primary sources to support understanding, and municipal positions and Portuguese legislation as secondary. Clothes and adornments are perceived as elements that demarcated the social positions of subjects, enslaved or not, being an important element in a hierarchical society such as that of Recife in the first half of the 19th century.

  • The last decades of the seven hundred in Alagoas were marked by the advancement of the valorization of the natural world, carried out in the wake of the illustrated Luso-Brazilian reformism. The idea that the exploitation of natural resources could promote the political and economic strengthening of Portugal emerged in administrative decisions that tried to guarantee real exclusivism in plant extraction. This work aims to analyze how the Portuguese Crown and the inhabitants to the south of the Captaincy of Pernambuco interacted with the forest areas of the Comarca das Alagoas between the years 1789-1799. In this way, it seeks to understand how the royal power through its officers, the governor D. Tomás José de Melo and the ombudsman José de Mendonça de Matos Moreira, were responsible for elaborating political arrangements that aimed to manage the forests, as was the case of creation of the Conservatory of Woods of the Comarca das Alagoas. In addition, the research seeks to show how farmers, wood processors, planters, the private and real naval industry disputed the vegetables in the region under study.

  • The Communist Party of Brazil was created in 1922, in Rio de Janeiro. Its organization derived from the union of nine communists who sought acceptance as members of the Communist International in Moscow. This did not happen immediately. The diversity of its members who dialogued with anarchism and freemasonry made acceptance by the Comintern impossible. Only in 1924 could they join the internationalist ranks. The clandestine nature of the party's history made it difficult to maintain and organize its members. The succession of authoritarian governments prevented the circulation of periodicals and removed the communists' right to vote and protest. Astrojildo Pereira and Octávio Brandão were two communist intellectuals, known for fusing their life story with that of the PCB. Their works, letters and reports are records of the history of communism in Brazil. This study aims to understand the actions of the communist intellectuals, through the communications exchanged between the Communist International and the PCB, making it possible to analyze the political processes, and to verify the theses of centralization in Moscow and the appeasement of party members, in the period from 1922 to 1935.

  • The history of the present time marks the period of redemocratization in Brazil in the 1980s and how the evangelical church participated in this transitional phase. From a vast documentation of the annals of the National Congress, magazines and religious periodicals, Acts of Ecumenical Councils, deliberations of Church Conventions, among other records, we proceed to analyze how the evangelical church entered politics and marked its influence in the refoundation of the New Brazilian Republic. The evangelical church, as a new political actor, stood out as an influential phenomenon because it brought new strategies of action to make politics in Brazil – it directly introduced religion into the process and debates of the political space. Despite the evangelical diversity, the political demonstration was an attempt to create a participatory identity to make a religious conscience prevail over the public. The work is a discussion and analysis of these actions of religious, ethical, moralistic and physiological contours that confuse religious neutrality with the will to power of the religious; its nuances and consequences for Brazil and for the evangelical church itself.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This work is concerned on investigating the identity and alterity representations woven in the Crónica de Castilla, as well as the social consequences that these representations can raise up, understanding them as CHARTIER (1991, 2002) conceives them. These representations, which are classifications, divisions and delimitations that organize the possible apprehensions of what is real, are never neutral and are responsible for justifying a particular project of society: in this case, a Christian and harmonic Castilian society. Our choice for Crónica de Castilla – a historiographical opus composed by order of the queen regent, Maria de Molina, at the turn of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries – is explained by the fact that this chronicle revolutionized the historiographical tradition in force until that time. The Crónica consists in a rupture with the alfonsine model, renowned for its claims to strengthen the royal power and the monarch’s figure, by giving up a considerable amount of space in its narrative to the achievements of social groups other than the royalty. Our objective is to apprehend, within this universe of representations that is built in the Crónica, what the dominant groups in Castile and Leon of the 13th and 14th centuries, who were responsible for ordering the work, said about themselves, how they saw themselves and how they would like to be seen by their peers. However, as SILVA (2014) explains, this process of identity formulation can only be built in direct opposition to other identities: identity is necessarily built at the same time as alterity. Therefore, we are also interested in understanding how these privileged groups is Castilian society represented the Moors – the great historical Other that lived to the south, against who they fought for centuries – and what were the relations nurtured between these two identity constructions.

  • The present text presents the partial results of the master's dissertation, whose title is “Interculturality and Historical Consciousness in the Teaching of Indigenous Thematic: Curriculum and Practices in Alagoas”. The objective of the research is to analyze the curricular documents produced in the state of Alagoas, in the years 2010 and 2014, from the perspective of the indigenous theme and relate them to the teaching practice through a Historical Class (SCHMIDT, 2016), using of the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Historical Education. For analysis purposes, the curriculum was divided into official and real. It is understood as official curriculum, the norms, guidelines and parameters that guide the practices that occur in the classroom, for the analysis of the official curriculum, were selected as research objects, the 2010 Alagoas curriculum reference and the Alagoas Curricular Reference of 2014. The real curriculum, which effectively takes place in the classroom, was observed through the application of a Historic Class, based on the Matrix of the Historic Class proposed by Maria Auxiliadora Schmidt. The curricular analyzes sought to contribute to the field of Historical Education, which has as its principle, “to propose a teaching that contributes to the complexity of the historical thinking of young people and children and, therefore, to the development of their historical awareness, identity and citizenship. ” (CARVALHO and SCHMIDT, 2008, p.) The work methodology was based on Oral History, document analysis and practical class. The use of oral history was in line with FERREIRA (2006), who establishes and orders procedures, using it as theory and practice. The documentary analysis was based on the theory of critical interculturality, which aims at a decolonial history for the understanding of the indigenous population. The preliminary results of the research showed that the official curricula of Alagoas were aimed at a neoliberal education perspective, dissonant from the paradigms of critical interculturality. The results of the real curriculum were analyzed based on the Historical class working with the indigenous theme, and presented a proposal that is similar to that desired by the theory of critical interculturality and Historical Education, as it provides Historical learning. In this way, it is expected that the indigenous population will be respected as a historical subject and in the cultural aspects that cover their languages, knowledge, knowledge, corporeities, narratives, time and space. The theoretical basis of the research arises from a dialogue with the following authors: John Rüsen (2010), Maria Auxiliadora Schmidt (2016), Isabel Barca (2018), Catherine Walsh (2006), (2008), Bodo Von Borries (2018), Tomas Tadeu da Silva (2016), among others.

  • Alagoas historiography gave precedence to sugar. Other products took part in this contribution, contrary to the supremacy of sugar. Cotton was one among other genres that helped our historical structure. Moving from a simple genre in the 16th and 17th centuries to an indispensable export item in the 19th and 20th centuries, reaching the same scale as sugar. Cotton transferred wealth, prosperity and development like never before. Cities without any intonation flourished, others rose up with white fiber as their mainstay. It transformed the means of driving and communicating, through the railroad tracks and steam navigation, enhancing the commerce in Alagoas. Its peak was the textile industries such as União Mercantil, a pioneer in the province. Later, the Companhia de Fiação e Fabric and Progresso appeared in the municipality of Santa Luzia do Norte, both commanded by Commander Teixeira Bastos. There existed Penedense, Pilarense, Miguelense and Agro Fabril Mercantil, known as Fábrica da Pedra, idealized by Delmiro Gouveia. These ventures dissipated class thinking among the weavers who, from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, pleaded for better working conditions, an unprecedented aspect in the sugar industry in Alagoas. Cotton also provided progress, beyond the borders of Alagoas, giving rise to real fiber emporiums, such as: Maranhão, Ceará, Paraíba, and Pernambuco, in the North and São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais in the South.

According to the reformist speeches illustrated, the territory in Central-West Africa should produce more than slaves and sustain other forms of production, not only for self-sufficiency, but also to supply other demands of the Portuguese economy. The arms and gunpowder traffic was the subject of much debate among Portuguese administrators. Exposing the fragility of Portuguese control, they were often trafficked by European foreigners, but these were not the only ones to smuggle the products, since subordinates of the Crown - captains-mores, merchants and the military - did business on the sly with the local population. Prohibiting Portuguese vassals from using gunpowder and weapons as a bargaining chip with African groups weakened the influence and authority of these vassals, as well as opening up space for this demand for war products from African chiefs to be met by other European nations. In this dissertation we analyze the strategies of the authorities of the Portuguese Crown in controlling the arms and gunpowder trade in Central-West Africa in the disputes of influence and territories, during the second half of the 18th century.

Spiritism went through the end of slavery and the Empire, accompanied urbanization, the expansion of cities, the beginning of the Republic and political and social struggles, such as abolitionist defenses and disputes by agrarian oligarchies for local leadership. Its members, mostly elitized, would be part of these diverse movements and, based on the group's prosopography, we sought to understand who were the subjects responsible for the development of Spiritism in Alagoas, as well as the power relations involved in their insertion as an option in the local religious field. . In addition, following the trail of interactions between these spiritists and their practices of intervention in public health, condemned by the Penal Code of 1890, the research attempts to contextualize, through questions about the current legislation and the official control instruments, which impact the supporters of Spiritism would suffer in their practices and what strategies they would use in maintaining their right to freedom of worship.

  • ABSTRACT:Colombia is a country with a long history of political violence. During the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, traditional political parties used armed violence to deal with the opposition and eliminate disputes for political and economic power at the local, regional and national levels. Starting in the 1950s, already within the international context of the Cold War and the fight against the communist danger in Latin America promoted by the US National Security Doctrine, political violence in Colombia was transformed into an armed struggle between the State and multiple organized actors with different objectives, territories and multiple levels of incidence in Colombian society. The purpose of this research is to delve into the particular experience in which the internal armed conflict in Colombia developed in the “oriente antioqueño”region, which due to its strategic characteristics for the regional and national economy was a scene of strong disputes for territorial control by part of all the legal and illegal armed actors involved in the conflicto - guerrillas, paramilitaries, drug traffickers, State - mainly between the 1980s and 2000s, and in which the civilian population of the local communities would bear the worst of it. The characteristics that the armed conflict took in this particular region are based on a territorial conflict that already existed in the region since the 1960s due to the arbitrary construction of infrastructure megaprojects such as the Medellín - Bogotá highway and the enormous hydroelectric complex in the area of reservoirs. Based on the testimonies of the victims of the armed conflict that are compiled in the reports published by the Historical Memory Group of the National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation (2005-2011) and by the current National Center for Historical Memory, it is sought make visible the experiences of reconstruction of the collective memory of the victims as an emerging historical subject in scenarios of multiple violence but also of multiple forms of resistance to war and to oblivion.

  • This research studies the experiences, strategies and social movements that resulted in the creation of settlements arising from land and social disputes over agrarian reform, in the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas, Sertão do Rio São Francisco, during the 1980s. by rural landless workers, progressive sectors of the Catholic Church and rural social movements, whose trajectories reveal a history of religious, popular and political resistance, marked by conflicts, (re)occupations, settlements and mobilizations for the right to access to land from the then Peba and Lameirão farms, between 1982 and 1989. Temporal delimitation started in 1982, due to the participation of landless rural workers in the region in the Rural Seminary of Paraíba – evangelization proposal inspired by the Theology of Enxada, a development of the Theology of Release. This section extends to 1989, when, after a series of experiences, movements and disputes between the landless, the large landowners and state and federal agencies, the Peba and Lameirão settlements were set up. Object of study outlined from the analysis of historiography and sources – written, oral and photographic – available in the current institutional, scientific and pandemic history. In this context, interviews were collected, recorded and analyzed with the participants of these experiences, using the methodology of oral history; analyzed newspapers, informative and printed, of popular communication; photographic records of settlers' personal collections discussed; and, in particular, examined correspondence, reports, notarial documents and other state, public and official records produced, collected and/or sent to the National Information System (SNI) which, through the network established by the community of security and information agencies, it gave careful institutional surveillance to the agrarian and social issue – treated as a case of police and national security. Thus, this study unveils the web of relationships cultivated by the landless with the Base Ecclesial Communities (CEBs), Rural Pastoral, Rural Workers Unions (STTRs) and, with national social centers and movements, such as Central Única of Workers (CUT) and of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST). In summary, the analysis of this context, experiences and movements broaden the understanding of how landless rural workers sowed, in their actions, strategies of resistance, belonging and social awareness woven into the struggle for the right to land . Experiences that resulted in the formation of the Peba and Lameirão settlements. The first agrarian reform territories constituted from the social mobilizations of the countryside from the Sertão de Alagoas, near the San Francisco River. Territories, trajectories and fertile paths of seeds, crops and pollination points of rural social movements in the struggle for the right to land, against the latifundium and in favor of agrarian reform.

trabalho formal. Logo, a pesquisa aqui proposta pretende compreender como procedeu
    Alagoas diante dessa conjuntura.

  • In recent decades, many of the studies on Afro-Brazilian cults in Alagoas have been based on renewed and interdisciplinary approaches, articulating concepts and methodologies, taking as a great point of discussion the historical experience that became known as “Quebra de Xangô” in 1912 , one of the greatest repressions of African-based religiosities known until then. The Social History of Religions has constituted a field of investigation capable of inaugurating concepts about the History of Religions. Such importance and support of the field have established characteristics, forms of interpretation, theories, methodologies and an epistemic maturation of its conceptual propositions. However, there are still many subjects, processes, cultural and social experiences to be deciphered by this field. This dissertation seeks to investigate, discuss and analyze the paths taken by Afro-Alagoas movements - which we identify here as individual and collective actions that seek to value, reflect and claim political and social aspects of black culture - in the present century, based on the historical experience of Youth of Terreiro de Alagoas called “Àbúró N'ilê- Terreiro Youth Network”. The terreiro youth collective is a network structured in 2014 that articulates and carries out its activities in different spaces (terreiros, centers and public squares) in the city of Maceió. The articulation proposed by the movement, its charter of principles and its performance propose and express its forms of organization. The theoretical categories lend to this work the propositions for an understanding of the social reality in which it seeks to historicize the performance of this movement, focusing on its ethnic and religious discourses, understanding that historical experiences enable the understanding of social representations and (re) construction of collective and individual identities as relevant contributions to the social study of Religions and Religiosities, based on the techniques and methods of Oral History and digital sources. Through this analysis, it is understood that it is essential to study these political-religious manifestations and their importance for the construction of a sociocultural identity, even on the reflections of the repressions experienced by Afro-Brazilian religions in the state.

  • Migratory processes can be identified in the Italic Peninsula since the Low Middle Ages. Over time, these processes have undergone changes both in relation to the causes, as well as the destiny and the subjects who submit to them. Historian João Fábio Bertonha states that as of the 1980s, a new form of Italian migration emerged, where the profile of these individuals is distinct from the well-known Italian migrants of the 19th and early 20th centuries. In this way, I try to find in Riccardo Canesi, an Italian who has lived in Maceió since 1992, elements that corroborate this notion of a new form of Italian migration. To this end, I use the practices of Oral History and Psychohistory to undertake an analysis of Canesi's narrative, seeking to identify in what ways his migration took place, what his motives were and under what forms and conditions he understands the “Old Man” and the new World".

  • The main objective of this dissertation is to contribute to the study of the Historiography of Brazilian Economic Thought. For that, it investigates Caio Prado Júnior's thinking about the economic development of Brazil produced between the decades and 1940 and 1970, both in magazines and in books. It examines, through historical materialism, comparative history and French Discourse Analysis, the social structure in which this Caiopradian thought was built. Therefore, a reflection is made regarding the character and function of the State in the capitalist periphery, this theme arises from the observation that most of the proposals for the development of Brazil attribute to the State a central role. Finally, economic development is investigated based on the contributions of Caio Prado Júnior, seeking to understand the relationship with his interlocutors in order to note the matrix of Brazilian economic thought and its strategies for overcoming Brazil's economic dependence. It is discussed, in light of the above, how the issue of dependence is inserted in the discussions about the Brazilian Revolution and how this debate is still fruitful today.

  • The present research is about the history seen from below, the
history of the women huts who lived in the context of the War of the Huts and who
participated in it. Within the scope of regional and national historiography the Cabanos
War is studied as an insurrection that took place during the 19th century, between the
years 1832 to 1850, in the Provinces of Alagoas and Pernambuco. Although
documentary sources showing traces of the presence of women in this armed conflict
have already been visited by historians who wrote about the war, no record of historical
research has been found that specifically addresses the issue, both within the scope of
national and regional history, and particularly from Alagoas . This investigation starts
from the survey of manuscript sources and publications in 19th century periodicals,
asking them about the explicit and implicit forms of representations of women in that
historical universe of the Cabanos War (1834-1850). The narratives about women who
belonged to the cabano world are lacunaire and residual, which led me to adopt the
methods of content analysis by Laurence Bardin (2011) and the microanalytical method
by Carlo Ginzburg (2017). Both seek the affinities in the techniques for unveiling the
clues, the traces of flawed acts, the sayings between the lines, the silences, the
contradictions that the documents have. Taking cultural history as a theoretical
foundation, I demonstrate how these women who were immersed in the woods,
suffering the reprisals of military incursions in those times of war are protagonists in the
    daily life of war.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This research aims to study the recent history of urbanization and real estate speculation in the city of Arapiraca-AL, specifically in the area that has been the main target of real estate capital: the immediate vicinity of the DNOCS Weir (National Department of Works Against Drought), currently called "Lago da Perucaba". In this area, traditional families of fishermen are being threatened with eviction from their place of residence and livelihood to make way for a luxury hotel that is part of the "Perucaba Bairro Planado" development. It is intended to show that local urbanization is inserted in a whole logic of capitalist development that appropriates (and expropriates) space as a way to guarantee its reproduction / accumulation. Thus, by drawing a panorama between the local context and the more general situation, one can better understand the impulses that influence the construction (within the period of time covered) of the image of a “modern” Arapiraca, where the “old” yields its place to the "new" as a "necessary" process; explaining class conflicts within the urban social dynamics of the city. The focus of the work is concentrated in the 21st century, because in the last 20 years and, more acceleratedly in the last decade, the DNOCS Weir, located in a peripheral area of the city, has become one of the most valued places in Arapiraca, but due mediations with the past century will need to be made to understand the path that the city has taken up to the present.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The present writing is about a historiographic analysis of an excerpt of the journalistic and artistic production of the intellectual Heliônia Ceres from Alagoas. The study aims to reflect on the issue of gender raised in this production, which is observed in the author's publications. The study starts from an examination of a split I made, from the sources found in his personal background, which date back to a period of three decades. For the investigation of this object, a methodological consideration was necessary on this selection of sources, where the main objective was to examine within a historical time the publications of the sections of the Gazeta Feminina page, which are journalistic sources. For the literary part, the sources are his storybooks, which here will be distanced from the fantastic discourse that consecrated his work. The intention was to transform the sources into mediators to understand some social realities that can be apprehended through a figurative reality of their texts/stories that can be considered within the historical moment. The analysis of these sources is part of Antônio Gramsci's debate on intellectuals and their social functions, and follows the paths of Marxist literary criticism, which brings the elements for an analysis within the scope of the author's cultural background. The gazettes available for the research date from May 1953 to September 1955. The short stories chosen for the analysis were “Santinho”, “The tragedy” and “My foreign love”, which were separated from his literary work, with the focus of understand how the debates on gender in Alagoas were treated, that contemplate an understanding of the evolution of his literary creation to the socio-historical scope. In the stories I noticed a finalism, which dismantles all its mystical aspect, with regard to a greater concern with the social position of women, a reference being the tale that gave rise to this dissertation, which was "Rosalia das visão" from 1984, two published and naming one of the works. This social immersion in women's history can be observed through a temporal examination of their historical experience intercepted with the author's literary production, which culminated in "uncommitted" fiction, but which also reflects how other genres were put, still within a temporality that needs to be taken into account, so that the struggle for human emancipation that is taking place today is perceived. The main hypothesis here is to show this evolution outside the construction of a print media, the part of literature in which it expresses, in its process of aesthetic reflection, an awareness, which evolved temporally, within its authorial project, about the inhumane and commonplace situations and realities of a society built within a late capitalist patriarchy, where human and social relations are within the scope of capital maintenance and gender oppression.
