COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND CARE PRACTICES IN DAILY LIFE OF XUKURU-KARIRI PEOPLE FROM ALDEIA MATA DA CAFURNA
Indigenous people, pandemic, care practices, indigenous resistence.
This research has the general objective of understanding the sociopolitical impacts of COVID-19 and the coping and care strategies adopted by the Xukuru-Kariri people from Mata da Cafurna village in this period. Brazil has become one of the countries that has suffered the most from the disease caused by the new coronavirus, mainly affecting vulnerable groups such as traditional peoples. The crisis caused by the pandemic, therefore, only opened up social, political and environmental inequalities already experienced by indigenous peoples. In the state of Alagoas, the Xukuru-Kariri people located in Palmeira dos Índios have been dealing for years with land conflicts, with the absence of qualified health equipment, and other problems and rights violations. Such issues demonstrate that the struggle of indigenous peoples is not limited to the fight against COVID-19, but extends against a project of State and society that systematically deny their rights. The indigenous struggle and resistance has been constant since the arrival of the caravels in Pindorama and in everyday life with their stories, knowledge, prayers and traditions they challenge this State that subjugates and threatens their ways of living. To achieve our objectives, this study will be carried out in six main stages, namely: (1) Initial meetings with leaders of the Xukuru-Kariri people; (2) Dialogue with the research field mediator to define strategies for approaching and contacting research participants; (3) Conducting narrative interviews in everyday life; (4) Research pre-analysis and shared conversation circles; (5) Analytical production and dissertation writing; (6) Presentation of the research and collective elaboration of actions.
