SUMMARY:

The research analyzes the intrinsic relationship between the State, the productive sectors of Alagoas, specifically the sugarcane and agricultural sectors, and the commodification of Health in Alagoas. It highlights the dynamics of dependent capitalism in Brazil and its impact on the northeastern state of Alagoas, highlighting the export of commodities such as sugar cane and alcohol, and the state's debt and the granting of tax benefits to oligarchic elites. It points out that the economic and political history of Alagoas is marked by the connection between the State and international and local financial oligarchies, and these have profoundly influenced the social structure of the state. It reflects on the effects of economic policies, in which oligarchies benefit, and the diminished role of the State for workers. It shows that public debt is the result of state policy implemented over the years, which ensures the basis for private accumulation and in this way has affected not only the economy, but also the State's ability to respond to the ills of the social issue. In the area of Health, it highlights the conflict between the public and private sectors, leading to the precariousness of public services and the commodification of health (in the provision of services and purchase of inputs and materials), evidenced by the allocation of Parliamentary Amendments, which have been, often directed towards institutions that represent the interests of the ruling class, and are accentuated in this dynamic as a political strategy and source of wealth accumulation. The time frame for the research was from 1906 to 2022. The methodology applied was a combination of exploratory-descriptive and qualitative research methods, given the recent nature of the topic and the limited existing theoretical basis, as well as bibliographic and documentary research.
