The advance of the phenomenon of financialization in Brazilian higher education in times of structural capital crisis

In times of structural capital crisis and finance hegemony, the movement of capital globalization, productive restructuring and the advance of neoliberalism form the fundamental basis for the deepening of the mercantilization of the service sector; in particular, social areas such as education, and in the case of peripheral capitalist countries such as Brazil, the level of higher education is highlighted as a result of the process of expansion and massification of this sector in the private sphere. According to the researched literature, the phenomenon of financialization represents the most contemporary face of capitalism. The investigation presented here is of a theoretical nature with bibliographical research referenced from the perspective of Marxian ontology, of a social-historical character. In this sense, this thesis aims to analyze the phenomenon of financialization in the current context of the structural crisis of capital and the consequences of this process in Brazilian higher education. It is intended that the impacts of this study contribute to a broader understanding of the Social Question, since our object, when investigating the phenomenon of financialization in Brazilian higher education, also permeates the effects that a precarious and lowered education affect the relationship. between capital and labor.
