SUMMARY:

Psychology in Brazil became a recognized profession in 1962 and since then has become increasingly important in the national context. Its dissemination takes place through social discourse, developed institutions and the Brazilian media. This channel is present in the proliferation of information and which has undergone changes since 1991. The advent of the World Wide Web, created in 1991, brought with it a modern wave of proliferation of Online Social Networks—RSO. The amount of material stored and the networks' dissemination potential exceeded the capacity of televised content for decades. In this way, RSO produces a new form of relationship between individuals and the psychologist is also inserted in this field. Whether as a user of RSO, as a content producer or having other forms of relationship with this space. Given the above, study 1 (chapter 3) aimed to understand how RSO is used in the field of psychology. Therefore, a search was carried out in the Scielo, IndexPsi, Lilacs, PepSic and PsycInfo databases using descriptors organized as follows ("Online Social Media OR Social Media AND Psychology OR psychologist") and ("Redes Sociais Online OR Redes Sociais AND Psicologia OR Psychologist"). A total of 3,918 studies were found, and after being analyzed, 71 studies were selected that met the research inclusion criteria. As a result, it can be seen that the field of psychology has been using RSO since 2011, from the production of studies on RSO Orkut, later the studies are carried out with the help of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The studies found have a qualitative and quantitative approach, with a predominance of qualitative methodologies. Furthermore, RSO are part of the lives of the subjects of the field of psychology, modifying the ways of social life and consequently reaching its subjectivity and of the time. Which brings challenges to the performance of psychology today, both in relation to the positioning of the field and in relation to discussions about technologies and RSO in the academic field. Given this, study 2 (Chapter 4) of this dissertation sought to understand what contente was published by psychology professionals on RSO Instagram in accordance with CFP guidelines. Captions from 10 publications were collected, based on the profile selection criteria. The text with subtitles was transformed into a textual corpus that was analyzed using the Iramuteq software. Presenting as a result 5 classes with content relating to how to take care of children's development, tips on how to have a healthy, authentic life and tips on self-care. The published content did not presente scientific references to the field of psychology and ethical non-conformities were observed in relation to the presentation of professionals in RSO. This points to the need for broad discussions about the use of RSO by the field of psychology, whether in the professional or training context.
