THE PRODUCTION OF MEANING IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION OF NARRATIVES
Production of meaning. Narrative construction. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This work focuses on analyzing the development of verbal and non-verbal communication skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) over a period of treatment, examining the production of meaning through the construction of narratives. The present study is characterized as intervention research using videography with 2 children with ASD aged 4 to 8 years. The methodology used in this study comes from the contributions of the doctoral thesis by DE SOUZA E SILVA DANTAS, 2009. Taking as a basis the pragmatist reference of language, this study conceives that the production of meaning is constructed by language games that are constructed in interaction, that is, researcher-researched. These games are not static, they transform over time, they are plastic and dynamic, in this way the processes of production of meaning can be captured in the process of change. Two strategies will be carried out to enable the production of meaning: (1) Guided play and (2) Story creation from images. It is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying communication in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing insights that can inform therapeutic practices and educational interventions aimed at this specific audience.
