SUMMARY:

 Currently, there is an increasing discussion about the participation of the man / father with regard to the creation of bonds and care for the child. Care in the case of a newborn requires even more the participation of this father. This participation in neonatal units is a right of this father. Seeking to explore the experiences of fatherhood in a neonatal unit, this research project aims to understand the meanings produced about fatherhood in a Neonatal Unit of a public teaching hospital. Unique and specific ways of dealing with fatherhood in this context will be investigated, the linguistic repertoires used, the different positions in relation to fatherhood, the participation of the neonatal unit team and the way in which public policies address this issue. Based on the theoretical-methodological framework of Social Constructionism and Discursive Practices and Production of Senses, it will use field diaries and hold a workshop with parents who are experiencing the experience of having a child hospitalized in the Neonatal Unit. Finally, it aims at greater parental participation in this process of caring for newborn children.
