SUMMARY:

The guideline of this study goes through the education of elderly women in non-conventional territories. Education was not always a right for women and, when possible, other boundaries remained unfeasible for their access and permanency in this context. However, this fact does not mean the absence of educational and formative processes, whereas they are susceptible to other spaces, other pedagogy and wisdom that developed the itineraries of their existence and lifestyle. It is about disseminating and fortifying the existence of a tight bond between education and the ground they stand, which is full of wisdom and other knowledges. The interlocutors of this study are four elderly women inserted in a collective work of embroidery at the State of Alagoas, called Bordazul. The research had the main goal of comprehend practises of subjectification of these women in different non-traditional learning spaces. As specific goals, the study sought to localise these non-traditional learning spaces that elderly women are found immersed; to evidence the memories of these women about their educational itineraries, as well as the implications of gender in these processes; and to discuss the meanings by the female elders in their educational processes. Based on the theoretical framework of subaltern feminisms and other non-hegemonic knowledge, the memories and emotions were used as epistemic and methodological resources, enabling a memorial writing. With that, it was possible to formulate letters that signalise the epistemic place where the study begins. The “pesquisarCom”, proposed by Márcia Moraes, and the consideration of a committed work, inspired by bell hooks, supported the construction of methodological steps, considering that they establish the commitment and articulation of a side by side posture among the subjects that belongs to the process. The meetings happened through calls and an initial face-to-face contact. The strategy used at these meetings was the act of conversation, demarcating the value of growing a dialogue for the construction of a subjective involvement. The registration form was done by recording the meetings. From the resonances of the conversations was constructed some storytelling that could contextualise the interlocutors and their formative/educational processes. At last, it was found that these women were born in rural areas and had some intersections of power in their lives that reverberate at the inpossibility of being inserted in a formal education Child labour, work as an adult, the distance from home to school, marriage, parenting and other factors presented themselves as difficulties in common to the narrative of these subjects. Education for these women is conceived and interlinked in their routine, as learning and pedagogy comes in the form of observing and practising. Orality and use of hands can be considered as paths for the construction and transmission of knowledge and wisdom. Nowadays, embroidery appears as a political and agency tool, which build a space and a community for learning.
