SUMMARY:

Resumo (inglês): This research aims to analyze academic stress and malaise in university professors and students and to know the antecedents and consequences of academic stress in such groups. To this end, three articles were carried out. In article I, a systematic review was carried out in order to identify psychometric instruments for stress assessment in the academic environment, from 2010 to 2021 and, subsequently, their psychometric properties were verified. This way, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 instruments were identified. It can be concluded that all instruments the studied presented acceptable psychometric evidence within the analyzed standards. Furthermore, it was possible to notice the scarcity of psychometric instruments that assess stress in the teaching context, with an assessment field more directed to students. Article II aimed to adapt the Academic Stress Scale (EEA-D) to the teaching context, bringing together its psychometric properties. In this direction, two studies were carried out. In Study 1 participated 210 university professors with an average age of 42 years (SD=9). Participants answered the preliminary version of the EEA-D and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The results indicated a one-dimensional structure for that scale, with satisfactory indices of reliability, discrimination and difficulty parameters. In Study 2, there was the participation of 257 university professors with an average age of 45.41 years (SD= 11.02). At this time, the final version of the EEA-D was applied. The main results confirmed the structural model of the EEA-D in a single factor, it can be concluded that the EEA-D version gathers good evidence of construct validity and accuracy, making it useful to measure academic stress in university professors. Finally, Article III (in progress) is a descriptive study, cross-cutting, and mixed approach (quanti-qualitative) and aims to analyze and correlate explicit variables with academic stress. Participated in this study 267 university students with a mean age of 23.03 years (SD=5.26) and 257 university professors with a mean age of 45.41 years (SD=11.02). Participants answered the sociodemographic questionnaire and the following instruments: Academic Stress Scale version for students (EEA-E); Academic Stress Scale version for teachers (EEA-D); Perceived Stress Scale (PSS); COVID's Fear Scale-19 (EMC-19); Trait and state anxiety scale (STAI); Dispositional Hope Scale (DSE) and the Life Satisfaction Scale (ESCV). The data in this article is still under analysis. It is noteworthy that the results of this research will be discussed from the theoretical framework raised in each article individually and later discussed together. It is known that, by expanding the discussion on the subject, it will enable better elaboration and resilience in the face of conflicting situations that generate stress, preparing professors and students for possible confrontations and promoting a better adaptation to the university.
