Art and the development of emotions: an objectively analytical interpretation of the literary work The Book of Embraces by Eduardo Galeano
Emotions; Vigotski; Art.
This is a theoretical study about the role of art in the emotional development and, consequently, in human development. Based on the theoretical framework of the Vygotskian theory, whose underlying fundaments are those of historical and dialectical materialism, especially the Psychology of Art and Theory of Emotions, the aimed is to understand human emotional functions and analyze these processes involved in artistic fruition. Therefore, an objectively analytical interpretation of the literary work The Book of Embraces, by the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano, will be carried out. The hypothesis is discussed that, in artistic fruition, the individual can experience the essential contradictions of historical movement on which those works were produced, extends the possibilities of giving meaning to the world and to himself and, thereafter, enables him to see new ways of acting on the concrete reality, allowing, with that, the self humanization.
