SUMMARY:

This project has as its theme of interest the woman in Candomblé. It has as theoretical and methodological assumptions, the socio-historical perspective, especially in its conception of the social configuration of psychic constitution carried out in cultural, social and historical contexts. It presents the guiding question: what is told in myths, in Brazil, about the Amazon and the valorization of women? The objective is to describe and interpret the concepts and meanings built on women, based on the myths about the Orios; to identify the feminine representations in the said myths. To this end, it was defined the realization of an objectively analytical analysis of an itan, referring to orixá Oxum, which as well as other stories and myths about the iyabás, worshipped in Brazil, circulate in the communities of terreiro and produce meanings. This stage is underway. The systematic review of literature on the theme "Candomblé and woman" is carried out, through research in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of Capes, in all areas of knowledge, in all years. The partial results indicate that there is a relationship and influence of the experience of black African women who were brought to Brazil as slaves with regard to the autonomy and leadership lived by the women on the ground, because the matrifocal practice of family organization reproduced in Brazilian soil, allowed the consecration of the religiosity called Candomblé. The review points out that this concept of religion constitutes a space for the preservation, resistance, empowerment and liberation of women, thus including Axé houses as an environment for the promotion of female otherness, recognizing women as subjects of themselves, where these identity references of the practice of valorization of the feminine being in the communities of Axé pass through and are maintained through orality, being transmitted through the mythological language the understandings of seeing and being in the world. The research indicates that the people of Axé apprehend through the myths an ancestral knowledge that communicates concepts and doctrines, being in this way, an instrument of teaching that keeps alive the religious tradition of African matrix, and gives access to references to the identities of the Arabs that differ from a logic of women’s fragility and submission and that traverse nonhegemonic world understandings. The theoretical and methodological aspects are presented, throughout the chapters, the measure of its explanatory and interpretative need. Finally, the Final Considerations will be developed, with the interpretative syntheses made, evidence of study limitation and future research possibilities. The repercussion of this study lies in the contribution to debates regarding the production of scientific concept, especially in the area of Psychology, where only one research with the theme addressed was found, as well as establishing a network of Brazilian researchers.
