SUMMARY:

In this qualification work, I bring initial reflections on the process of construction of
ethnic identity in the Carrasco quilombola community located in the interior of
Alagoas. I sought in the outline of these three chapters to present the elaborations of
the material produced in field research in dialogue with the anthropological
productions that deal with territory, conflict and ethnic identity, proposing an analysis
that accompanies the procedural development of the identity from the certification
that represents a milestone in the community. Understanding the family and ethnicity
as organizational principles, I try to understand how the dynamics of social relations
such as family, work and neighborhood were affected by the development and
strengthening of the ethnic frontier. In this way, I developed the first chapter on the
community's identity recognition process and discussions on ethnic groups and
quilombola communities; In the second chapter I tried to present a little of the families
that figure in the disputes of the associations active in the community, their alliances
and articulations; Finally, in the third chapter, I started the presentations on land
conflicts, which I understand as the effects of identification that affects the
strengthening of the ethnic frontier.
