SUMMARY:

 In this visual (auto)ethnography I deal with the research experience with the photographic self-representations of women in the contemporary scene in Maceió, Alagoas. Moved by the recognition of gender asymmetries in the artistic field of photography, a professional category in which I am also inserted, I aim to understand how the creative practices carried out by women photographers produce “fractures” in the Western regime of dominant representation. Therefore, through meetings with Amanda Bambu, Gabi Coêlho, Laryssa Andrade and Natiê Paz, partner photographers in this research process, I present creative impulses that emergse from the artistic gesture of learning in practice – with them – how to represent myself. O Punho – Coletivo Alagoano de Mulheres da Imagem, is also present, moving me to think about the emerging activism of women artists in the city of Maceió. In this sense, what I sketch here is a life experience in which there is a boundary between scientific rationality and emotion, subject and object, art and science are called into question
