O GOD, SAVE THE PRAYER! DOMESTIC ALTARS: An anthropological analysis of the representation of the Sacred in the Nossa Senhora das Dores neighborhood in União dos Palmares - Alagoas

This qualification work aims to analyze how a group of residents of the Nossa Senhora das Dores neighborhood, located in the municipality of União dos Palmares, in the State of Alagoas, Brazil, have been related to a number of objects religious, developing a local logic of collection, with different forms of attribution of meanings to objects that represent popular religiosity. Its about reflect the different logics of attributing meanings to these objects, the way they they articulate memories around issues such as accuracy, inaccuracy, silencing; also the way popular religiosity materializes in a group identity in the dynamics of the residents of that neighborhood. To achieve the proposed objective, a qualitative methodology of ethnographic character, based on application and research techniques as participant observation, semi-structured interviews and life stories. Hopefully this dissertation can contribute to anthropological studies on collection objects and, eventually, to the studies of social memory, religiosity and popular culture.
