“THE VIRUS DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE” A study on the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of the LGBTQIA+ community in Maceió
Pandemic, LGBTQIA+, mental health, impacts, coronavirus.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the lives of the world's population have been directly impacted by a virus that does not discriminate, as it makes no distinction between gender, skin color or social status, but the impacts are more pronounced according to social markers. In this way, the present work seeks to investigate the factors that led to the worsening of vulnerabilities among the LGBTQIA+ community, during the Coranavirus pandemic, affecting the mental health of this population. The research develops from a dialogue with the data generated in the semi-structured interviews carried out with LGBT people in Maceió about the impacts on mental health during the pandemic, in addition to rescuing the life story of each subject as a way to better understand the way how each one dealt with the pandemic.
