SUMMARY:

This work aims to analyze the territorial dynamics of the Calon gypsies residing in Penedo, in the south of Alagoas, as well as the memory of the regimes related to the presence of this ethnic group in the mentioned city. As for territorial dynamics, understood as a process of approaching negotiation of Calon families in a process of approaching negotiation of families and the meanings they attribute to their own circulation and that they attribute. Such dynamics gave rise to the neighborhoods of Vila Matias, Santa Madalena and São Rafael and to the Santa Luzia and Sant'Ana subdivisions, marking the constant presence of the Calon in Penedo since the 70's. Calon, deal with absences and representations for the non-gypsy population and which contrast with Calon's elaborate memories, whose presence, performance and protagonism have recently gained greater visibility. Based on the data from the ethnographic memory system of the calonized still in memory and analyzing how the most recent mobilizations of gypsies and the elaboration of the memory of the “housing” process show the leading role in the construction of the new Penedo regime in the city, the recognition of the ethnic and cultural specificities of the Roma population, the importance of their participation in the city's history and the need to develop specific public policies for their inclusion.
