LGBT community's appearance routes in spotify podcasts
Gender. Digital Environments. Podcasts. LGBT
Looking for to understand how the assemblages about the LGBTQIAPN+ community have promoted political routes for this community to appear on digital sound platforms, I carried out a digital ethnography by wandering on the Spotify platform. I went through two networks of mapped podcasts, the “LGBTQIAP+” network, with 76 podcasts, and the “LGBT” network, with 190. Through the creation a researcher profile on the platform, I cataloged the podcasts by identifying the year of release, resulting in 6 playlists: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. This action reverberated in the analysis experiences, drawing attention to methodological dilemmas about the conditions for making podcasts, as well as the disappearance of cataloged podcasts. The analysis deepening followed with the framing of the podcasts in 4 ways of appearance: Collectives and social organizations; Religions, religiosities and spirituality; scholars and academic podcasts; and Pop culture, LGBT experiences and daily life. In general, the ways present very heterogeneous characteristics and occupation intentions, both in relation to the proposals and in relation to the actors involved. In powerful actions involving art, literature, music, music videos, production of podcasts, series, movies and other cultural products with LGBTQIAPN+ themes, it has been possible to subvert spaces of silencing and open paths for other stories to appear politically privileging the diversity of regional contexts and expressions: are stories of fagot, of bisexuals, lesbians, transgenders, people who identify as queer, asexual or pansexual.
