SUMMARY:

The Brazilian Northeast in the Catholic religious segment is
characterized by the emergence of several characters called
blessed. Examples: Father Cícero, Antônio Conselheiro, Father
Ibiapina, Frei Damião, among others, having in common the
charismatic gift, morals and the search for heavenly paradise.
The people who followed them saw them as people who had a
great spirituality based on faith, work, fraternal sharing and
charity. Such characters were responsible for major social
movements around a utopia, for those fleeing hunger and
drought, in search of a better life on a journey through the
“promised land”. This research has as its object of study the
blessed Alagoan named Antônio Fernandes Amorim, since his
appearance, in the Alagoan hinterland, until his pilgrimage in
Serra Grande, in the municipality of Quebrangulo-AL, where the
Vila de São Francisco appeared. The research seeks to
understand, in addition to the political and religious persecution
that affected him, how the blessed is part of the messianic-
religious movements of the Northeast, as well as his murder in
1954, and what happened to his spiritual and social projects
developed in Vila Nova de Milfontes. which, currently, seeks to
rebuild
itself with the administration of Franciscans in the ideals of its
founder, who is revered monthly by pilgrims and pilgrims who
consider him a saint. In order to obtain the necessary data for
the production of this study, both bibliographic researches
related to the theme will be carried out, as well as analysis of
documents referring to the historical-social-religious process of
the formation of the Village as a space for sociocultural, political
and religious interaction. This documental data collection
procedure will be carried out in public and personal archives,
while the ethnographic research will be carried out in the Vila
and surrounding areas. This research seeks, in addition to
analyzing the socio-anthropological process of messianism, to
contribute to a closer look at beatism, some messianic movements in Alagoas and its legacy around society.
