SUMMARY:

Drainage dividers are fundamental elements of the earth's surface, they are definers of watersheds. The dynamics belonging to the drainage dividers was recognized long ago, with the discovery of lateral mobility and migration through Gilbert (1877). He proposed a way of evaluating the stability of the dividers with the "Law of Unequal Slopes" related to erosion rates on both sides of the divider, analyzing the differences between the erosion rates, indicates a possible movement of the divider, having relations with processes of remontant erosion of the drainage headlands, leading to fluvial catch processes. In this way, the present approach seeks through the application of indices such as the ꭓ value index and Divisor Asymmetry Index (DAI), to establish relationships between the evolution of the headwaters on the drainage divisor of the Moxotó and Capiá river basins
