In the last decade, the questions about the Textbook were marked by debates in scientific meetings and congresses, discussing the elaboration and production of these materials, according to the new proposals for education, contemplating the Teaching of Geography. In this context, this research aims to analyze how race relations are presented in three collections of Geography textbooks for High School in Alagoas, in order to discuss the speeches present in these materials. Regarding the specific objectives, it is intended to: Address the concepts: Structural Racism, Race, Ethnicity, Textbook and Coloniality and their relevance to the Teaching of Geography; Historicize the Textbook as an important teaching resource for Basic Education and for the Teaching of Geography; Discuss the Teaching of Geography with a view to enabling paths for the construction of citizenship for high school students in Alagoas; To understand how the racial theme and the respect for black people have been addressed in School Geography, aiming to discuss the realization of these practices and their relationship with the Geography Textbooks, checking whether this content is in accordance with what is established by the PNLD; To identify and discuss the main languages used in addressing the concepts of Race and Ethnicity of the three collections under analysis. In this qualitative research, we carried out the following methodological procedures: bibliographic survey, which has as main authors: Cavalcanti (1998), Callai (2010), Ianni (2004), Munanga (2004), Santos (2018), Quijano (2010) Tonini (2002), and document analysis, we consulted the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) and analyzed some theses and/or dissertations that deal with the theme under analysis, study of laws and guidelines that govern the preparation of textbooks, and preparation of tables. This research aims to contribute to the discussion of the theme of race relations in Geography Textbooks, since these materials play a leading role in Brazilian public education. The relevance of discussing the theme is due to the urgency of promoting the debate on ethnic-racial relations and basic education, understanding the teaching of Geography as one of the tools for the construction of an anti-racist society.
