FROM MONKEYS TO SLIPPERY COMMUNITY: METAMORPHOSES OF A QUILOMBOLA TERRITORIALITY IN GOOD COUNCIL – PERNAMBUCO
Traditional communities, territory, process.
The Quilombola Community of Escorrego, formerly Macacos, located in Bom Conselho, Agreste Meridional de Pernambuco, has specific features that contribute to the understanding of the processes of territorial transformations experienced by the eleven remaining communities of certified quilombos in the municipality. In this ongoing research, the aim is to understand and analyze such processes and the consequences derived from them, in that community, considering the uses of the territory, the apprehension of new technical objects, new habits, new economic practices, as well as the maintenance of traditions they carry with them. Therefore, unveiling the new realities of these communities, and at the same time highlighting, in the light of a regional scale, their importance to the cultural, economic, social and, therefore, territorial formation of the Agreste of Pernambuco, and more specifically of the municipality of Bom Advice, in addition to the archetypes traditionally used even to make references to the remnants of quilombos. Given its geographic location, in the border area between the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas, associated with their common historical and territorial formation, plus the physiography of the local landscape, it is possible that the quilombola community in question is the closest among them. formed from the genocide of the Quilombo de Palmares, in the municipality of Bom Conselho.
