SUMMARY:

The distribution of archaeological resources in space is not random, on the contrary, it presents several patterns of distribution that are directly linked to the relations of man in the past with environmental elements in space. Assuming that man performed different types of interactions with the environment, both in the sense of survival as well as in its cultural sense, it is possible to determine trends for preferential settlement sites in the landscape. The present work intends to elaborate a model of archaeological occupations by units of landscapes for the State of Alagoas, which will take place through the modeling of environmental data in semi-detail scale that will be correlated to data from georeferenced archaeological sites and classified by types of occupation and by their respective chronologies. This proposal will be carried out through steps that go through a vast literature review until the use of geoprocessing techniques. Vector and matrix data will be used for the construction of the geomorphological mapping, for the construction of the model of pedological sets, for the mapping of the vegetation cover and for modeling of the Landscape Units of the State of Alagoas, in the scale of 1:50,000. It will be possible to make associations between the Landscape Units of the State of Alagoas and the georeferenced archaeological data from IPHAN-AL, thus generating a model that will serve as a reference for State heritage management, academic research and for environmental licensing.
