USES OF TERRITORY AND RACIAL HOMICIDAL VIOLENCE IN ALAGOAS
homicidal violence; structural racism; territory used; public security.
Homicidal violence rates in the state of alagoas — which were once the highest in the country — have, in recent years, registered consecutive declines. However, this slowdown in statistics occurred, from a demographic point of view, unevenly, since the black and brown population registers a relative risk of victimization by homicide many times higher than the rest of the population. From what has been stated, the present work aims to apprehend the racial disparities of homicidal violence in the state of alagoas, through the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the available statistics, together with a deep discussion about the role of structural racism in the conformation of the posed reality , and the evaluation of public policies undertaken in the field of public security in the territory of Alagoas. In an effort to operationalize the analysis in the light of geographic science, the category territory will be used through its classic conception, but mainly through the formulation of territory from its uses, or simply used territory, proposed by Milton Santos. Therefore, the investigation will start from an extensive bibliographic review, aiming to give the necessary theoretical robustness to the continuation of the research. Concomitantly, a documentary survey will be carried out in bodies and institutions in order to obtain the necessary data for the construction of the research. Finally, data will be tabulated and homicide rates per 100,000 inhabitants will be calculated, taking into account the population groups relevant to the research.
