The state of Alagoas is known for its expressive popular cultural center, which radiates throughout its geographic
territory, from the coast to the farthest backwoods, and extends to the wild lands of the 'Agreste.' This cultural wealth
is a blend of homebred, African, and European elements. In this context, São Sebastião town, located near Arapiraca
city and also renowned for its bilro lace production, stands out as a representation of deep expression, encompassing
feelings, values, know-how, and self-affirmation within this art form. In this research, we aim to analyze the cultural
significance of the Bilro lace connected to São Sebastião town, exploring its particularities that have shaped it as a
distinctive cultural brand. Using a hermeneutic approach, inspired by the works of Amaral Filho (2012), Ghedin
(2004), Gadamer (2003), and Palmer (1969), we conduct synchronous analyses of the data and information collected,
ultimately presenting results that align with reality. By contextualizing and showcasing the nuances of this studied
object, we demonstrate the profound relationship between Bilro lace and São Sebastião town, revealing how it has
shaped the cultural identity of its citizens.
