POSTGRADUATE AT UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS: A PROPOSAL FOR SUPPORT NEW MANAGERS

A well-executed management is fundamental for the development of any institution. In the public centers of higher education in Brazil, the occupants of these positions are professors, who, in general, do not have training to work in management. This research purposes to investigate how to guide the new managers of postgraduate programs at Universidade Federal de Alagoas (Ufal) about the main duties, responsibilities and workflows involved in the execution of the job. To this effect, it aims at detecting in the literature the impact of the absence of a specific training in university management; identifying the profile of Ufal’s postgraduate managers; mapping the attributions and describing the main processes of these coordinators.
